Stephen Hawking was a Fellow of the Royal Society of London and Pontifical Academy of Sciences. He was the Lucasian Chair of Mathematics at the University of Cambridge from 1979 to 2009. Hawking received numerous honors for his scientific work, including the Order of the British Empire, Prince of Asturias Award for Concord, Copley Medal, and Medal of Freedom.
