2. Location and general details
Greece is a small country in the south-east
part of Europe. Its capital is Athens and its
population is about 11 million people . Greece
shares borders with Albania, Bulgaria, Turkey
and F.Y.R.O.M. The language they speak there
is Greek, and their religion is christianity.
3. LANDFORM
Greece has a lot of rivers , lakes and
plains. North Greece is mountainous. The
highest mountain is Olympus. According
to the Greek mythology the 12
Gods lived there and ruled people.
Greece also has many islands. One of
them is Santorini, the most visited tourist
attraction in the world.
4. CLIMATE
Greece has dry summers and mild winters. In winter it sometimes rains and the
temperature rarely drops below zero. During the summer, the climate is usually
hot and sunny.

Homer was the author of Iliad
and the Odyssey .He is one of
the greatest poets of all ages

famous poet who was awarded
by the Nobel prize for his
poems.Some of them are:The

Glamorous and the Little

.Eleftherios Petrounias is a greek
athlete who has won the gold metal in
the olympic games three times.
7. FOOD
Greeks are also very famous for their
cuisine. Some of the most popular
dishes are are souvlaki,which is pork
meat cut in small pieces, Greek salad ,
which contains cucumber, feta cheese,
tomatoes, onion, peppers, olives and
olive oil.They make a food called cheese
pie. Greeks are also well known for
some of their sweets, like loukoumades,
which can be accompanied with honey
and melted chocolate.Another famous
sweet is galaktoboureko.

9. HISTORY
Greeks were ruled by Turkish for over 400 years and they were
always fighting for peace and democracy. They also have a
great civilization .Ancient Greeks focused on their language,
painting, religion and architecture. They built the Parthenon and
many ancient theatres, like the ancient theatre of Epidaurus.
