12. prezi.com
This is a dynamic online presentation tool. Prezi creates a
visually interesting presentation on a text’s characters or
themes.
Rather than providing separate slides for different elements of
a presentation, Prezi provides one giant canvas which is
scrolled around on a ‘path.’
Can also be used to create a character’s journey. Start
by identifying important settings in the text. Find images
that represent these settings and place them on the Prezi
canvas.
Then their Prezi ‘path’ can become the character path –
students’ visually map out a character’s journey to and
from each setting and what happens in each setting.

About SAMR
Researchers have determined that technology integration typically moves through specific levels. The higher the level of an activity the greater the educational benefit. SAMR is a model of tech integration designed by Dr. Ruben R. Puentedura, Ph.D. that is simple, easy to gauge, and offers all educators something to strive for.
The SAMR model is a useful tool for helping teachers think about their own tech use as they begin to make small shifts in the design and implementation of technology driven learning experiences to achieve the next level. Dr. Puentedura has included Questions and Transitions Ladders with the SAMR model to help teachers make transitions to each level. Teachers in the substitution and augmentation phase can use technology to accomplish traditional tasks, but the real learning gains result from engaging students in learning experiences that could not be accomplished without technology. At the Modification and Redefinition level, the task changes and extends the walls of the classroom.
Students can click anywhere on the canvas and add text, video, audio, images and documents.
Afterwards, they can select the ‘path’ (i.e the order) that these will be shown in. They simply click on each - adding a number 1, 2, 3 etc...and what they have created will be shown in that order.
Capzles is a timeline program which allows students to move beyond the boundaries of the slide show and simple templates to present their ideas in different formats.
Tools such as this can help students to become better digital writers.
