Creating lab assignments
1. From your Connect course homepage, select the “+Add Assignment” option
2. Select the “Virtual Labs” assignment type
3. From the next screen, you will be able to select one lab simulation to assign (you may only include one
simulation per assignment).
o Search for labs using the filter options in the upper right corner.
o Preview a simulation by clicking the “eyeball” icon to the right of the simulation name.
o Select a simulation by clicking the radio button to the left of its name.
4. Click “Continue” in the lower left after you have made your selection.
5. Name your assignment, provide the due date and time and the points for the assignment and click
“Assign”.
6. Important – Assign the simulation “A Virtual Labs Tutorial” to students first. Have them complete it
before any other simulation so they can learn about all the features in the simulation.
All instructors should also preview their Connect course as a student
and complete “A Virtual Labs Tutorial”. Go to the top right corner of
Connect Home page and select “Student view.”

Checking scores / reports
To access all reports: From the home page, click the “Performance” drop
down, then “Reports”
Assignment Results Report: See overall assignment scores listed by student
and color-coded into high, medium, and low score ranges, and customize results.
1. Choose “Assignment Results.”
2. Select the assignment(s) you want to review and click “View Report”. To select multiple assignments,
Ctrl + click.
3. In the report, click the blue hyperlinked score to launch the post-submission view of a specific
student’s performance report (see below).
4. The Student performance report shows you the individual results for that student, including:
• Number of phases in the simulation that were completed before the due date
• How many times the student reset any of the phases throughout the simulation
• How many times they answered pop-up questions incorrectly
• Their hypothesis (when applicable)
• Their strategy (when applicable)
• Their conclusion (when applicable)
• Their collected lab data (when applicable)
• Their saved graphs (when applicable)
• Their lab wrap-up questions (when applicable)
• Click the back arrow in the upper left corner to return to Connect

Student Performance Report: See an individual student's scores, status of assignments, and time spent on
each assignment.
1. Choose “Student Performance.”
2. Begin typing the first or last name of the student and then click on the name of the student when it
appears. NOTE: Check the “Look in all sections of this course” to include students in other sections.
3. This report shows you all assignment results for that student, including when they started the
assignment and submitted.

Creating Post-lab assessments
1. From your Connect course homepage, select the “+Add Assignment” option
2. Select the “Question Bank” assignment type.
3. Select the corresponding lab content bank you would like to review.
4. Select the questions you would like to assign by selecting the box to the right of the question name.
5. You may preview any of the questions by clicking the blue hyperlinked text.
6. Once you have added all of your questions click “Continue” in the lower right.
7. Name your assignment and configure policy settings as you see fit.
8. Click “Review and assign”.
9. Click “Assign” to finalize the assignment.
