 Marketing is the management process through which goods and
services move from concept to the customer. It includes the
coordination of four elements called the 4 P’s of marketing:
Product
Price
Place
Promotion
 Product stands for both goods and services offered to the
customer’s to satisfy their needs
 Price stands for the amount of money that will determine the
exchange rate of product or services between the organisation
and the customer
 Place stands for the selection of a distribution channel to reach
the customers
 Promotion stands for the development and implementation of a
promotional strategy to stimulate the demand for the product
 Marketing differs from Selling because :
 Selling concerns its self with the tricks and techniques of getting
people to exchange their cash for your product. It is not concerned
with the values that the exchange is all about and it does not view the
entire business integrated effort to discover, create, arouse and
satisfy customer needs.
 In other words, Marketing has less to do with getting customer to pay
for your product rather it develops the product in terms of fulfilling
the customer’s needs
Narrow
market
focus
Position the
business
Create
marketing
channels
Educate
before
selling
Create
referral
programs
Earn media
attention
 Narrow market focus : This simply refers to describing the ideal
customer in the most detailed terms possible
 Position the business : Figure out the functionality of the product
and what the target market wants as it could spring up ideas on
how to better package the product also as to differentiate the
product
 Create marketing channels : Upgrade the marketing channels and
make certain that every information disseminated to the target
market are core messages
 Educate before selling : Ensure that every information
disseminated is geared towards creating prospects not customers.
The target market needs to learn the value of the product in a way
that makes them want to pay for the product
 Create referral programs : Instil a referral mind-set to the business
culture. This is achieved by simply creating a referral marketing
engine that systematically makes every customer a marketing and
referral contact
 Earn media attention : Create a list of media channels who cover the
business and build relationship with each by becoming a reliable
source of information
