• There are four (4) Dopaminergic pathways to consider in
schizophrenia and they are:
• 1. Mesolimbic pathway
• 2. Mesocortical pathway
• 3. Nigrostriatal pathway and
• 4. Tuberoinfandibular pathway

ANTIPSYCHOTICS
1.Dystonia: Symptoms include involuntary
muscle contractions that can cause twisting
or repetitive movements, particularly in the
face, neck, and tongue.
2.Akathisia: Symptoms include restlessness,
agitation, and a strong urge to move.
3.Parkinsonism: Symptoms include
tremors, muscle stiffness, and slow
movement.
7. •Other less common EPS include tardive
dyskinesia, which is characterized by
involuntary and repetitive movements of
the face, tongue, and limbs, and
neuroleptic malignant syndrome, a
potentially life-threatening condition that
can cause fever, muscle rigidity, and
altered mental status.
