9. ARENAL VOLCANO AND HOT SPRINGS
ArenalVolcano, one of the most active in the Americas. Begin the trip with a stop
to see the Metal Parish in the picturesque city of Grecia, continuing between
green coffee plantations to the iconic village Sarchí, famous for manufacturing
beautiful handicrafts and furniture, and hand-painted oxcarts, which decades
ago were used as transportation for coffee and other agricultural products.
Visit the park to admire the world’s largest wagon and the Cooperative
Artisans market of Sarchí which exhibits and sells an immense amount of crafts
manufacturedfromfine,domesticwood,especiallyfurnitureandcolorfuloxcarts.
Later we will travel by a panoramic mountain road to the restaurant to enjoy
a delicious typical lunch and continue descending towards the Plains of San
Carlos and the town of La Fortuna where the colossal Arenal Volcano is located.
It has a conical shape and has been active since 1968, generating various
manifestations of visible activity from the resort hot springs, our final destination
where we will enjoy several hours of the relaxing outdoor pools with thermal
mineral water of incredible purity while we take in the glory of Arenal Volcano.
Please do not forget your bathing suit and sandals. Our guide will indicate the
time when we will meet in one of the restaurants to enjoy a delicious dinner
buffet.
10. PoasVolcano,DokaCoffeeandLaPazWaterfalls
Garden
We will make our way to Poas Volcano on General Canas, one of Costa Rican’s
main highways, going through the city of Alajuela and passing by historical
monuments like the Monumento al Agricultor, Monumento a Juan Santa Maria
and also the famous Parque de los Mangos. Making our way up the mountain,
we will stop for a panoramic view of a Doka coffee plantation where you will
receive a brief explanation about coffee and enjoy a delicious breakfast.
Next we will continue through other plantations of flowers and strawberries
until we arrive at Poas National Park where you can behold the beauty of the
cloud forest of Poas Volcano. Here we will take our time to take in the main
crater and its impressive fumarolas. We will also walk the path to the Botos
Lagoon and learn about the different ecosystems in the park.
We will then make our way to La PazWaterfall Gardens, a natural park and jungle
wildlife refuge. We will walk along spectacular paths that will lead us to the
gorgeous waterfall surrounded by the tropical rainforest. In the park, we will
also visit the butterfly and hummingbird observatories as well as the rescue
center that holds incredible animals like monkeys, large cats, snakes, birds and
frogs. We will also enjoy
La Paz’s famous buffet lunch.
11. Irazu Volcano, Basilica of Cartago and Orosi
Vally
Driving on the Panamerican Highway, we will begin our ascent to
the great Iztaru. The picturesque drive will take us through fertile
farm land with a great variety of products like potatoes, onion,
carrots and beets. At the peak of the volcano, we will see the main
craters: Irazu, Playa Hermosa and Diego de la Haya. This volcano
is the highest in Costa Rica at 3432 meters (11,000 feet) above sea
level. Its most recent eruptive stage was between 1963 and 1965
with gas and ashes found throughout the entire country. On a
sunny day, both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans can be seen from
the peak of the volcano.
After our time at the volcano, we will descend upon the city of
Cartago, the former Costa Rican capital, established in 1563 by
conqueror JuanVázquez de Coronado. Here we will visit theVirgin
of Los Angeles Basilica, built in honor of Catholic patron saint of
Costa Rica who is celebrated every August 2nd with thousands of
pilgrims from every corner of the country visiting the Basilica on
foot since 1635.
We will then move on to the enchanting, colonial Orosi Valley,
surroundedbybeautifulmountainsthatproducecoffee,sugarcane
and decorative plants among many other products. Orosi played
an important historical and religious part of the colonial era. All
of the remaining sites have been declared historical national
monuments, including the beautiful Colonial Church of Orosi. As it
is still open to the public, we will visit this church. After a delicious
typical lunch, will start our journey back to San Jose.
13. MANUEL ANTONIO NATIONAL PARK
This national park is one of the most beautiful in Costa Rica due
to its combination of gorgeous beaches with crystal-clear water
and coral reef surrounded by a lush, beautiful tropical rain forest.
These beaches are considered among the most beautiful around
the country, where scuba diving and surfing are very popular.
Our tours begins early in the morning through green mountains
and typical towns around the Central Valley to the farmland
coast of the Central Pacific, passing by multiple rivers where we
highlight the Tarcoles River, home to reptiles, like crocodiles, that
deserve a stop for a few pictures during the trip on the Southern
Coastal Highway. The view will be absolutely wonderful, blending
mountains and ocean points of view. We will take in African Palms
and typical towns until we get to Manuel Antonio National Park.
Upon our arrival, we will hike though the rain forest on natural
trails until we get the beach, where you can swim or if you prefer,
to keep walking though the trails where you can enjoy the flora
and fauna, particularly, different species of monkeys, raccoons,
iguanas, birds and sloths. One of the trails goes by the Punta
Catedral (Cathedral Point), where the view of the forest and the
ocean is simply spectacular.
After the experience of this mystic natural paradise, sun and ocean,
we will have a great lunch to start our journey back to the capital.
14. JACO BEACH AND ADVENTURE ATV
This tour has been designed to offer a relaxing day at one of the
nearest and most popular beaches in the country.
Surrounded by active and vibrant commerce, enjoy the tropical
weather on the long beach washed by the Pacific Ocean and at the
pools of the beach hotel Balcon del Mar. Its proximity to the capital
city makes the city of Jacó one of the most important holiday
destinations in the country where tourism services are extremely
varied allowing you to fully enjoy all kinds of activities: adventure,
nature and entertainment.
Once we settle in at the hotel, our guide will inform us of the best
options for a day full of excitement and adrenaline by participating
in one of the local adventure tours, or just rest and relax in the pool
area or under the palm trees of the beach watching the sunset with
a exotic drink. A tasty lunch will be served in the hotel restaurant.

15. TURTLE ISLAND IN THE GULF OF NICOYA

be waiting for you with a very professional and polite crew to take
you to the beautiful Tortuga Island in the Gulf of Nicoya. The hour
and a half ride on the sea is very welcoming and interesting and
gives you the chance to enjoy the sun, to hear tropical music and
to savor delicious cocktails. Once on the island, you have time for
swimming and walking on the white sand of this beach paradise or
going snorkeling. A delicious lunch will be served outdoors under
the palm trees, and the makeshift bar on the island will always be
open during your stay. After lunch, you will have time to relax and
unwind or walk around the island. The route back to San Jose will
be the same as the journey to the island, getting to Puntarenas
around 5:00 p.m. and back to San Jose around 7:30 p.m. The tour
includes a light breakfast and a lunch at noon.
Particularly enchanting and beautiful, Tortuga Island is known for
its immaculate white sand beach and turquoise waters, a perfect
destination for swimming, snorkeling, and enjoying the succulent

of Manuel Antonio National Park, one of the best parts of the Pacific

Pacuare is considered the most beautiful river in Costa Rica and

The rapids reach different degrees of difficulty up to Class IV.
Our guides will be waiting for us with the equipment to begin the
adventure. Each participant will receive a life jacket, a helmet and a

22. 3 IN 1: TOUR IN A BOAT ON THE SARAPIQUÍ
RIVER, AERIALTRAM IN A RAIN FOREST, HIKING
ON SELVA VERDE LODGE TRAILS
The tour begins with a trip through the extraordinary rain forest of
the Braulio Carrillo National Park arriving to Sarapiqui, a beautiful
area known for its incredible natural wealth, to board a boat in
which we will take a relaxing ride on the Sarapiqui River.
After the boat ride, we will continue with a walk on the private
trails of the Selva Verde Eco Lodge, which are a paradise for nature
enthusiasts, hikers and birdwatchers. This will be followed by a
delicious lunch and on the way back to San Jose, we will visit the
famous cable car in the rain forest, where aboard a gondola, we
can see the trees and nature in the company of a nature guide
.
The rain forest has 475 acres of private reserve and shares a 10 km
border with Carrillo Braulio National Park, which forms a buffer
zone between the park and farmland.
Enjoy a trip through the forest canopy in the Costa Rican Atlantic
Cable Car. The Atlantic Cable Car takes an hour and 10 minutes in
total and covers a distance of 2.6 kilometers through the treetops
of primary forest at a relaxing rate of two kilometers per hour.
We have open trams with canvas awnings and seating for six
passengers plus a guide which makes it an excellent choice for
groups and families.
23. TORTUGUERO NATIONAL PARK CANALS
At 6.10 a.m., we start our journey from San José accompanied by
our bilingual nature guide.
At 7.00 a.m. , we will cross coffee plantations to continue through
the Braulio Carrillo National Park, covered with beauty and
lavishness of its trees and beautiful waterfalls which can be seen
from the road.
At 8 a.m., we will eat a delicious Costa Rican typical breakfast with
fresh fruit, coffee, juice, eggs and the popular“Gallo Pinto.”
At 8.30 a.m., we will continue the trip and visited the banana
packing plant. The guide will explain the process of growth and
fruit export.
(Saturday and closed Sunday).
At 11.00 a.m ., we began to enjoy the boat ride, boarding at the
Caño Blanco, taking in the Caribbean channels located within the
famous Tortuguero National Park.
At 12.00 p.m., enjoy a typical lunch, which will please the most
demanding of appetites.
At 1.00 pm, after lunch we will walk through the forest and
learn more about the nature and get a better idea of our tropical
rainforest, plus enjoy a boat tour throughTortuguero National Park.
This park has 29,000 acres and is one of the most important nesting
places of the Chelonia midas turtle, or green turtle.
24. RAINFOREST AERIAL TRAM TOUR
EThe Caribbean Rain Forest Aerial Tram is a private reserve of 475
acres, located just 50 minutes from San José, 5 kilometers after the
Sucio Río bridge on the road to Braulio Carrillo to the province of
Limon. The property shares a 10 Km border with Braulio Carrillo
National Park and is a buffer zone between the park land and
agricultural production.
Upon arrival, visitors are greeted by staff who invite guests to board
the exclusive transportation from the reception to the video room
in the visitor area. We will have a brief stop to enjoy the panoramic
view on the suspension bridge and the Broccoli Tree viewpoint.
After the presentation of a short introductory video, park visitors
are guided to the boarding area of the cableway where the main
idea is to show visitors the different levels of the forest, from the
canopy treetops to the lesser-known parts of the forest, even in
the scientific field.
On the trails you can see the heart of the rainforest; where there
is a great diversity of species of plants and animals. That’s why the
walk through the trails and the ride in the cable car are an excellent
combination to know and appreciate the rainforest from the
ground to the tops of the trees.
26. Poas Volcano National Park
We take the highway from the capital city to the province of
Alajuela, observing the Agriculture Monument, the Monument to
Juan Santamaria and the Mango Park. During the ascent to Poas
Volcano, we will drive through extensive crops: coffee, ornamental
plants, ferns, flowers and strawberries. The National Park is located
at an altitude of 2,708 meters above sea level has a noticeable
change in the temperature and vegetation. At Poas Volcano, we
will take time to behold the impressive main crater with fumaroles
and the wonderful tropical cloud forest before starting the trip
back to San Jose.
Irazu Volcano National Park
During the spectacular climb to the impressive Irazu Volcano,
we will travel through fertile cultivated lands of the province of
Cartago: vegetables, root crops and vegetables of all kinds. Located
3,432 meters above sea level, you can observe the main craters of
the volcano and on a clear day you could make out the Atlantic
and Pacific oceans. We will descend to the former capital city of
Cartago to visit the Basilica built in honor of the image of Our Lady
of the Angels, patron saint of Costa Rica, daily site of pilgrimages
and manifestations of faith.

Luna restaurant is located in the hills of Aserrí and only 15 kms
from San Jose.
The Ram Luna relives memories of our traditions and culture.
The buffet, exquisitely decorated, allows you to taste the many
typical dishes of Costa Rica like olla de carne, empanadas, chifrijo,
and chicharrones typical of the area , not to mention traditional
desserts like the delicious rice pudding, which is sure to make you
forget your diet!
The show, with great joy and spontaneity, will take you on a
journey through Costa Rican folklore, ending with cimarrona
and mascaradas on the open-air terrace, overlooking the city. In
addition, several local artisans will show off beautiful pieces of
jewelry made with stones, seeds trees and natural fibers, which
you can buy and take home as souvenirs.
