Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer Endorses Orlando Bike Share
1. April 17, 2014
To Whom It May Concern:
Orlando is entering a whole new era of transit as our community is about to open SunRail, our
region’s first commuter rail line which will begin operations on May 1. To complement SunRail
and provide additional transit options for residents and visitors, we have expanded LYNX bus
and LYMMO bus rapid transit service. We also recently launched a carshare program with our
partner Hertz 24/7.
It is our hope that we can also unveil a bikeshare program in Downtown Orlando before the end
of 2014. As such, the City of Orlando has partnered with Cyclehop to implement and operate a
bikeshare program.
Already available in other cities throughout the world, bikeshare allows residents and visitors to
rent a bicycle quickly, easily and affordably by the hour or day and return the bicycle to a
number of other locations throughout Downtown Orlando.
Bikeshare is a private venture being implemented without public subsidy. Cyclehop relies on
sponsorships to launch, maintain and operate the program. In exchange for sponsorships, the
bicycles and stations offer many opportunities to advertise your business.
I encourage you to review the sponsorship package and consider becoming a sponsor of this
new efficient and environmentally friendly program that will change the way residents and
visitors move around Downtown Orlando. If you are interested in obtaining more information
about bikeshare, please call Ian Sikonia in the City’s Transportation Planning Division at
407.246.3325.
Sincerely,
Buddy Dyer
Mayor
