“We live in an exciting time when new technologies and fresh ideas can be harnessed to create powerful change..."
The promise of Open Government is simple –
A public that is engaged and informed of their government’s day-to-day activities will contribute in meaningful ways to government decision-making, and help them deliver more responsive programs and services.
We're Ontario's Open Government Engagement Team, and we are having in-person, online and social media dialogues with Ontarians about how the province can be more open.
What new ways can governments find to inform and engage the people they represent?
How can government be more open in everything it does?
We need to hear your views!

5. Open Dialogue
Open Dialogue is about finding new ways to engage
the public, capturing diverse ideas and expertise in
designing policies and programs.
How can we:
• move beyond traditional consultations?
• help the public be a partner in developing policies
and programs?
• use new tools to deepen participation?

6. Open Data
From weather information to traffic patterns,
government data is a raw material for knowledge.
Around the world, it has sparked innovations that help
people in their everyday lives.
How can we:
• publish more data?
• make data useful and accessible?
• use data to drive innovation and stimulate
economic growth?

7. Open Information
Open Information means making government
information available to the public on a proactive and
ongoing basis – open by default.
How can we:
• help Ontarians easily get the information they need
from government?
• strengthen government transparency and
accountability?
• make information available in a way that
encourages public engagement on issues?
