1. What methods did you use to
establish generic pleasure /
responses to your products?
2. In order to appeal to my target audience
(16-18 year olds), I used a character
from within that age group.
The reasoning behind this was I wanted to
retain some familiarity for the audience
and thus increase the appeal of my film
with that age group.
3. Horror films generally have a sense of foreboding
throughout. They play on the audience’s fears by
building tension through the use of music as well as the
characters actions.
As a crucial convention of many films within my chosen
genre, it was important that I kept this convention and
transferred it to my film. As a result of this, my film builds
the tension throughout until the last scenes.
To help create the atmosphere, I used an understated
soundtrack that I felt enhanced rather than detracted
from the action and tension. As I mentioned above,
music plays a big part in horror films by contributing to
and creating an uneasy feeling within the audience.
4. Keeping the audience intrigued throughout
was very important to me. I chose a
cryptic title for this very reason. I wanted
to shock the audience and leave them
asking questions. To do this, I kept a slow
pace throughout that slowly increased to
build tension.
I purposely left the ending open so the
audience would have to make up their
own mind as to what happens.
