3. Which specific production tasks have you
enjoyed most this year?
âą My favourite productions so far this year have got to be the first project we did which was the music
video, and one of the most recent project we did which was the movie posters production. I enjoyed
creating the music video because it was at the start of the year so everything was new and exciting.
Despite it not being the project I am most proud of, I can appreciate that I still enjoyed the editing
process a lot because I had full artistic control so I could make the music video whatever aesthetic/vibe
I wanted to (depending on how well it fit with the song).
âą I most enjoyed the production of the movie posters because I appreciated the fact that I had to create a
poster that fit a certain genre and therefore it was a bit of a challenge which I liked as I had to make the
posters look dark yet alluring. I enjoyed the freedom I had to layer effects and images and blend them
together in order to create the end product.
4. What challenges have you faced this
year in your practical work?
âą I would say the most challenging part of the practical work I have completed this year has got to
be the production of the video game trailer I did inspired by the movie posters I had created
prior. This is because I found it difficult to create a video game with the same genre as the
original film without it being too complex. This was also because it was my first time using stop
motion in photoshop so therefore my work couldnât be too complex as I had only been taught a
basic understanding of how to create a stop motion animated video. The challenge was mainly
that the animation process was very time consuming which led to me falling behind a bit,
however I did manage to catch up.
5. Which process do you think you have
made the most development in?
âą I would say I have definitely developed in my time management skills as I used to procrastinate
a lot when it came to writing up the planning/pre-proposal sector of the project. I wouldnât put as
much effort into the writing at the start of the year as I do now. This is because I have realised
the importance of the proof of planning when it comes to my work being marked after the work
has been submitted.
6. Which technical skill do you think is
you strongest?
âą I believe that one of my strongest technical skills has got to be my artistic skills. For example, I
am very proud of how my video game trailer turned out and I think that is down to the efforts I
put into the landscapes of the world. Creating an animated stop motion video using photoshop
has made me realise that I have a skill for pixel art. This is because I ensured my pixel
landscapes had details without it defeating the pixel art appearance â same as with the video
game character.
7. What do you think has been your best
project and why?
âą I think that my best project so far has got to be the Adventure Story project. This is because it
was the most time consuming, detailed, most researched project I have done so far. I put a lot
more effort into the planning and production of this project than I did any other. I also believe
that my photoshop skills advanced a lot during the production of the posters and also the video
game as I learnt skills I hadnât learnt before such as using the timeline in photoshop to create
stop motion videos. With the movie posters, I believe I just advanced my skills that I already had
but I am both very proud of the outcome of the movie posters and the video game.
8. Which project did you enjoy least and
why?
âą I think that I enjoyed the audio project the least. This is because it lacks the visual art element
which I enjoy the most in media. In addition to this, I found the project quite challenging as it
wasnât as straightforward as other projects. This is because I didnât quite understand the project
until quite late and so I believe that my final product wasnât as good as it couldâve been. I just
did not enjoy any part of this project apart from maybe when we did the Shaun of The Dead
experiment however when it came to our final product we couldnât place a video over the sounds
like we did in that experiment and therefore I believe it lacked.
9. How have you managed your time
effectively this year?
âą At the beginning of the year, my time management was not the best. I didnât understand the
amount of time I had to complete projects and therefore my work was just not up to standards.
However, I believe that I have improved a lot since then and I now have an understanding of the
value of time and prioritise keeping up to date.
âą Due to a few sick days, I have been pushed behind in a few projects in the past which has led to
be having less time to complete them and therefore there may have been a few missing sections
(slides etc.) which is not good.
11. What roles/specialism do you see
yourself working in on future projects?
âą I see myself working in future video projects as those are what I enjoy doing most and
videography/cinematography are skills that I want to advance in. I believe that if I improve my
photography skills and even potentially compile a photography portfolio in order to keep my
work in a designated place. I want to develop all of my media skills so that I have options when it
comes to my FMP and even applying to universities. However, video making and therefore
improving/developing my editing skills on premier pro is where I most want to succeed. As my
FMP is going to include a TV commercial style perfume ad and therefore I want to ensure that
the cinematography is at is best standards.
12. What do you see yourself doing at the
end of the course next year?
âą At the end of the course next year, I see myself preparing to attend a good university which
specialises in Film/TV and progressing my media skills further. I wish to work in the film and tv
industry however I am not sure of which specific career I want to have yet. I want to use my
artistic eye to good use and pursue a career in that field. I would most want a job which I have
responsibility of how a image/frame looks which would be going down the
cinematography/photography path during my time at university.
13. What research do you need to do in
order to explore your future progression
options?
âą I need to research which universities are most ideal and realistic for me to attend. I would prefer
to attend a university down south however that is just a personal preference.
âą I need to focus on which course suits me best due to my skills and preference e.g. Film
Production and Photography etc. I also need to research which jobs these courses can make
me qualify for and see if I am keen on the outcome of the qualifications.
Hinweis der Redaktion
Consider 2-3 specific practical parts of your work this year [e.g. filming or editing, etc] and discuss why these have been your favoured parts of the course so far
Think about the work that has been most challenging this year [try and be specific when talking about tasks] and how you responded to it?
A process would be research or planning or time management, it could be a combination. Talk about what it is, how you feel youâve developed and where this was most evident in the year
This is a technical skill like filming, editing, photo manipulation, designing adverts or using Photoshop â think of an example that shows your strength
This is looking at how you see yourself specialising as we move into the FMP and into Year 2
