Position Summary
Reporting to the Chief Technical Officer as a member of the Engineering Leadership team, you will be responsible for developing and controlling the production of design related documents for all of the projects undertaken by the company, ensuring that deadlines are met and relevant legislation, class rules and budgets are adhered to.
Close cooperation with the Projects Manager to coordinate adequate allocation of design resources will be essential.
The engineering design team will also support the R&D team in the design of equipment for development and testing and cooperation with the R&D Manager will be required. Co-ordinating with the purchasing team to ensure that delivered product matches or exceeds customer expectation in terms of quality and performance. It is also expected that you will take an active role in developing strategic improvements to the product line and support new business opportunities.

2. ENGINEERING MANAGER – THE ROLE
Establish and Develop the Engineering Department. Recruiting and leading the development and
elevation of staff through proactive coaching and mentoring, professional development and feedback.
Management of KPI’s. Liaising with the C.T.O. to develop design deliverable KPI’s. Driving the KPI
objectives within the department and monitoring the department’s progress. Take corrective and
preventative action when performance falls short of target.
Product Development. You will be required to develop the existing product offering; to value engineer
standard products to increase profitability without loss of quality. You will have technical responsibility for
the introduction of new product lines ensuring that all legislative requirements are met.
Specification change authorisation. You will provide the business with a first point of contact for
advice and approval of any change to specification, analysing the impact of this change to the company
and liaising with the C.T.O for overall approval.
Data Collection and Presentation. Collate information on engineering activities and departmental
objectives. Present performance against objectives to C.T.O on a weekly basis.
Supplier Approval. You will work together with the Purchasing Manager to ensure that the companies
chosen suppliers are technically capable of providing the services and quality required.
Design. Develop the company design deliverable standards, and streamline the process of concept
design to manufacturing documents. You will responsible for ensuring all designs are compliant with
legislative and class requirements.
