2. Even though the dancing's done
Don't worry 'cause the night is young
Who cares where we go?
We're ready for the afterglow
…Even though the dancing's done
Don't worry 'cause the night is young
Who cares where we go?
We're ready for the afterglow
Someone pull the sunlight back
'Cause we want this night to last
Someone pull the sunlight back
'Cause we want this night to last
Smoke and lasers, love and ravers
Afterglow, we're ready for the afterglow
Lights and action, strong attraction
Afterglow, we're ready for the afterglow
(Oh baby, baby)
Smoke and lasers, love and ravers
Afterglow, we're ready for the afterglow
Lights and action, strong attraction
Afterglow, we're ready for the afterglow
(Love and ravers)
(Love and ravers
Strong attraction)
Afterglow, we're ready for the afterglow
We're ready for the afterglow…
Afterglow, we're ready for the afterglow
We're ready for the afterglow
3. The personification “the night is young” implies that they aren‟t done with their
night yet. Saying its “young” represents that there‟s more to come for these
people. There is positive representation of the youth as they obviously enjoy
dancing. Therefore, this appeals to a broad audience who enjoy dancing.
“Who cares where we go” shows that location isn‟t much of a concern to these
people as they are more concerned about having fun and not ending their night.
This shows that they‟re careless and don‟t have to worry about where they will end
up (because they‟re young).
This reinforces that they have freedom as they do what they wish. The audience
aspire to feel this sense of freedom. Furthermore, this builds up the star image, an
attractive young female, who is free. A female audience would relate to this
character and bond with the artist.
4. “We‟re ready” reinforces that they are prepared for anything coming their way and
further develops the representation of the youth, portraying the image that the
youth can face all challenges and obstacles.
“Ready for the afterglow”, they can do this again, emphasising that they are
prepared for more. This fundamentally develops a sort of lifestyle which is; outgoing, dancing, having fun and repeating this.
“Someone pull the sunlight back, „cause we want this night to last” this further
develops that element of “wanting more” and that they want to have more fun. The
target audience, young people, can relate to this feeling.
“Smoke and lasers, love and ravers” listing the elements of their idea of
fun, reinforcing the representation of their already-created lifestyle. Similarly, the
same representation is constructed with the following lyrics “lights and
action, strong attraction”. This emphasises what they enjoy.
