2. Widgets - Apple has brought back Widgets. You will
find them in the Notification Center.
Real-Time Dictation – Something Android users
already enjoy, iOS 8 now allows for instant dictation
on the iPhone – just hit the microphone button.
Group Messaging - you can now name threads so
you know what’s going on by tapping the thread,
then "Details," then swipe down "Subject" and give
it a name.
Group Messaging - you can now set up a “Do Not
Disturb” to mute a message thread notifications
from a specific thread with a tap on the
conversation, then Details, then Do Not Disturb and
it will stay on until you remove it.
App Extensions - App extensions is one of the
important additions to iOS 8. Exclusive to iOS 8,
apps can now send extensions of themselves into
other apps.
3. Space Saving Settings - Apple’s default settings in
Messages will delete pictures and videos to save
space, however you can choose to save them for 2
minutes or forever with a tap on Settings in
Messages.
Interactive Notifications - Notifications and
messages can be a big distraction but now in iOS 8
you no longer have to switch over to the Messages
app to reply – just reply to a message right from the
banner or swipe to accept an invitation right from
the lock screen.
Third-Party Keyboards - Third party keyboards like
Swifty and Swype are now available but they won’t
allow access to the voice dictation.
Details in Messages – now the Messages app
includes a Details screen where you can instantly
view your contacts location. You can also choose to
send your location or share it for a set period of
time by tapping "Details" then "Share My Location.
4. Timed Videos and Audio - iOS 8 now allows you to
set expiration dates for video and audio that you
send through Messages just choose the option and
time you want them to expire.
Camera Timer - You don’t have to use third party
apps just to take a group picture anymore. Tap on
the timer icon near the shutter and choose either
no timer, 3s timer or 10s timer.
