1. Presentation of the Computer Science
Education
at “Volksschule Glonn” Middle School

2.  all students at „Volksschule Glonn” attend two
lessons in Computer Science. According to the
curriculum, this subject is supposed to initiate
“basic competence in Information Technology”
and “skills in dealing with manifold
applications in the world of employment”.

3.  Pupils will be enabled to use the computer as a
tool and a medium for tasks that are
appropriate to their age. They will be enabled
to do this in a proper, creative, responsible and
critical manner. This results in building up
problem-solving skills and logical and
structured thinking, and they learn how to
work precisely and efficiently.

4.  Disciples are supposed to deal critically with
the possibilities and the limits of the new
technologies. This also includes that they find
their orientation in the complex field of an ever
more rapidly changing technology.

5.  Our pupils learn the practical use of a
computer, its periphery and software, as well
as their diverse applications in the field of
solving problems and of gathering, processing,
evaluating, displaying and transmitting any
kind of information.

6.  Disciples must be able to deal with computer-
aided communication, which has entered many
aspects of our daily life, in an independent and
responsible way. They experience the
possibilities that offer the new technologies,
but are also sensitized to the dangers of
manipulation and the need for copyright
protection and data security.

7.  Computer Science education at the middle
school “Volksschule Glonn” focuses on the
practical use of computers. All necessary terms
and skills in using hardware and software shall
be acquired.
