tion of the KARL STORZ OR1™ NEO system and in making full
use of all of its capabilities. All necessary inputs and commands are
clearly explained. We thus ask that you read this manual carefully
before proceeding to work with the equipment. Keep this manual
together with the system for ready reference.
The KARL STORZ OR1™ NEO system is supplied as a unit com-
prising complementary hardware and software. Any changes to the
hardware or software which are not authorized by KARL STORZ void
both approval for medical use and the warranty. This includes, in
particular, the subsequent installation of third-party software of any
kind and updates to the software of the OR1™ NEO system
(e.g., Windows®
).

Das neue OR1™ NEO System ist die nächste Stufe des integrier-
ten Operationssaals und vereint alle Funktionen in einer Oberfläche
zusammen mit einfachen Bedien- und Steuerungselementen.
Ein System – ein Konzept – eine Philosophie – ein OR1™
Die neue Bedienersoftware ermöglicht eine schnellere und einfachere
Navigation der Systemkomponenten:

Die zentrale Steuereinheit des OR1™ NEO ist das SCB control
NEO System, das die Bedienung der endoskopischen Geräte,
OP-Leuchten, OP-Leuchtenkameras und vieles mehr beinhaltet.
Durch die definierten Presets werden die angeschlossenen Geräte
gleich auf die richtigen Werte für den Eingriff eingestellt, was die OP
Vorbereitung vereinfacht und den OP Ablauf unterstützt.
Die Integration der verschiedensten Videosignale, die in einem
integrierten Operationssaal vorhanden sind, werden über das AV
system NEO mittels einer Routingfunktion zusammengeführt und
bedient. Neben dem Videorouting ermöglicht das AV system NEO
die Anbindung und Bedienung von Raumfunktionen, wie Raumlicht,
Jalousien und vieles mehr. Auch können DVDs und CDs abgespielt
werden. Dabei wurde die Bedienung des gesamten AV system NEO
komplett überarbeitet und neu gestaltet. Durch die Einführung der
„Home“ Funktion ist die Bedienung übersichtlicher und einfacher
gestaltet. Die Raumfunktionen sind nun separiert und ermöglichen
ein schnelles Zugreifen auf die richtige Funktion. Wie beim SCB
control NEO wurde nun auch hier die Funktion „Übersicht“ integriert,
die die wichtigsten Funktionen übersichtlich auf nur einer Oberfläche
darstellt und bedienbar macht.
Die Dokumentation des OP-Eingriffs erfolgt über das AIDA com-
pact NEO, das wie gewohnt Bild- und Videoaufnahmen ermöglicht.
Neben diesen Grundfunktionen bietet es auch die Möglichkeit, die
Patientendaten aus der DICOM Worklist aufzurufen sowie weitere
Daten des OP Teams aufzunehmen und zu dokumentieren.

The new OR1™ NEO system represents the next level in integrated
operating rooms and combines all functions on one interface
together with simple controls.
One system – one concept – one philosophy – one OR1™
The new user software enables the system components to be
navigated more quickly and simply:

The central control unit of the OR1™ NEO is the SCB control NEO
system which is responsible for operation of the endoscopic devic-
es, OR lights, OR light camera and much more besides. Thanks
to the defined presets, the connected devices are immediately set
to the correct values for the intervention which, in turn, simplifies
preparations for surgery and the surgical procedure itself.
Integration of the various video signals which are present in an inte-
grated operating room is handled and operated by the AV system
NEO using a routing function. In addition to video routing, the AV
system NEO enables room functions such as room lighting, blinds,
etc., to be integrated and operated. DVDs and CDs can also be
played back. To this end, operation of the entire AV system NEO
has been completely revised and redesigned. Introduction of the
‘Home’ function has made operation both clearer and easier. The
room functions are now separate which means that the correct
function can be accessed more quickly. As with SCB control NEO,
the ‘Overview’ function has also been integrated, as such, the most
important functions are now clearly displayed on a single interface
for easy operation.
Documentation of the intervention is handled by AIDA compact
NEO which, as usual, allows images and videos to be recorded.
Alongside these basic functions, this also allows patient data to be
called up from the DICOM worklist and additional data of the
surgical team to be recorded and documented.

La unidad central de control del OR1™ NEO es el sistema SCB
control NEO, que contiene el mando de los aparatos endoscópicos,
las lámparas del quirófano, las cámaras de lámpara del quirófano y
mucho más. Mediante los preajustes definidos, los aparatos conec-
tados se configuran simultáneamente a los valores correctos para la
intervención quirúrgica, lo cual simplifica y apoya la preparación y el
transcurso de la intervención misma.
La integración de las diversas señales de vídeo existentes en un
quirófano integrado, se reúnen y mandan a través del sistema AV
system NEO mediante una función de routing. Además del routing
de vídeo, el sistema AV system NEO permite la conexión y el mando
de funciones de quirófano, tales como la iluminación de la sala, las
persianas y muchas más. También pueden reproducirse DVDs y
CDs. Al prepararlo, el manejo de todo el sistema AV system NEO
se modificó y rediseñó completamente. Mediante la introducción de
la función “Inicio”, el mando se ha diseñado de forma más clara y
sencilla. Las funciones del quirófano están ahora separadas del resto
y permiten un acceso rápido a la función correcta. Del mismo modo
que con el SCB control NEO, también aquí se ha integrado la fun-
ción “Sinopsis”, que presenta y permite el mando de las funciones
más importantes de forma sinóptica sobre una única superficie.
La documentación de la intervención quirúrgica se realiza a través
de AIDA compact NEO que, como de costumbre, posibilita la captu-
ra de imágenes y secuencias de vídeo. Además de estas funciones
básicas, también ofrece la posibilidad de llamar datos del paciente
de la lista de trabajo DICOM, así como de grabar y documentar
otros datos del personal quirúrgico interviniente.

AIDA compact NEO
3.1
AIDA ist die Kurzform für Advanced Image and Data Archiving
System. Der häufigste Einsatzort ist der moderne Operationssaal,
aber auch jeder andere Bereich, in welchem medizinische Bild- und
Videodaten erfasst und dokumentiert werden sollen.
Die Kombination aus AIDA Hard- und Software ermöglicht die
patientenbezogene Erfassung, Überprüfung und Speicherung
von Bild-, Video- und Tondaten. Diese Daten können je nach
Anforderung auf verschiedene Arten zur Archivierung abgelegt wer-
den:

Digitale Archive über bspw. DICOM* und/oder HL7* Schnittstellen

Die eingriffsbezogenen Patientendaten können entweder manuell
eingegeben oder über die Worklist-Funktion** empfangen wer-
den. Zu den eigentlichen Personendaten können eine Vielzahl an
Zusatzinformationen dokumentiert werden, so zum Beispiel der
Name des durchführenden Arztes oder die genaue Bezeichnung des
Eingriffs.
Zur Erfassung von Bild- und Videoinformationen kann AIDA compact
NEO von verschiedensten Bildquellen gespeist werden. AIDA com-
pact NEO bietet abhängig von der Ausführung beispielsweise den
Anschluss von DVI-D, HD-SDI, RGB und Composite Quellen.
Der Anwender hat verschiedene Möglichkeiten - sogar aus dem ste-
rilen Bereich heraus - AIDA compact NEO und seine Funktionen zu
bedienen:

AIDA compact NEO
3.1
AIDA is short for Advanced Image and Data Archiving System. The
system is most frequently used in modern operating rooms as well
as in all other areas where medical images and video data are to be
captured and documented.
The combination of AIDA hardware and software enables the
patient-specific capture, examination and archiving of image, video
and audio data. Depending on requirements, this data can be
archived in various ways:
Writing to CD/DVD (Blu-ray optional)

USB memory devices
•
Network drives
•
Digital archives via, for example, DICOM* and/or HL7* interfaces
•
The intervention-specific patient data can be either entered manually
or received via the worklist function**. A large amount of additional
data can be documented together with the personal data, for exam-
ple, the name of the surgeon responsible and the precise designation
of the intervention.
AIDA compact NEO can be fed from a wide range of image sources
in order to capture image and video information. Depending on the
version, AIDA compact NEO allows, for example, the connection of
DVI-D, HD-SDI, RGB and composite sources.
The user is presented with various ways – even from the sterile area –
to operate the AIDA compact NEO and its functions:

3.1
AIDA es la abreviatura de Advanced Image and Data Archiving

documentar datos médicos en imágenes y secuencias de vídeo.
La combinación de hardware y software AIDA posibilita la captura,
verificación y almacenamiento de datos de imagen, vídeo y sonido
referidos al paciente. Estos datos pueden almacenarse de diferentes
maneras para su archivo, según se requiera:

Die SCB control NEO Software zeigt 1:1 die Bedienoberfläche des
jeweiligen Geräts an, das dem OP-Personal bereits bekannt ist. So
ist auch über den Touch Screen eine intuitive Bedienung der Geräte
sichergestellt.
Speicherbare Einstellungen können individuell vordefiniert und bei
Bedarf abgerufen werden. Dadurch wird ein schneller Systemstart zu
Beginn jeder Operation sichergestellt.
AV system NEO
3.3
Das AV system NEO ist das Telemedizin System des KARL STORZ
OR1™ NEO Systems. Es ermöglicht zentral die integrierten
Videosignale an die gewünschten Monitore sowie weitere Videoziele
zu routen, Raumfunktionen wie z. B. Raumlicht, Jalousien o. ä. direkt
aus dem sterilen Bereich mittels Touch Screen zu steuern. Neben
der Steuerung im OP ermöglicht das System auch Videokonferenzen
abzuhalten und sich mit weiteren OP-Räumen für einen Informations-
und Wissenstransfer zusammenzuschalten.
Neben all diesen Funktionen sind noch weitere Funktionen vor-
handen, die je nach Ausbaustufe des OR1™ Gesamtsystems zur
Verfügung stehen. Diese Funktionen sind als Optionen bezeichnet
und müssen im Rahmen des OR1™ Projektes oder separat erwor-
ben werden.
SCB control NEO
3.2
The KARL STORZ SCB control NEO system enables all device func-
tions to be centrally controlled and continually monitored via a user
interface within the sterile area.
The SCB control NEO software shows a 1:1 display of the user
interface of the respective device with which the OR staff are already
familiar. This ensures that the devices can be operated intuitively via
the touch screen.
Settings which can be saved can be individually predefined and
called up as required. This allows the system to be started up more
quickly at the beginning of each operation.
AV system NEO
3.3
The AV system NEO is the telemedicine system of the KARL STORZ
OR1™ NEO system. It enables the integrated video signals to be
routed to the desired monitors and other video sources centrally and
room functions, e.g., lighting, blinds, etc., to be controlled directly
from the sterile area using the touch screen. In addition to control
functions in the operating room, with this system, video conferences
can also be held and information and knowledge exchanged with
other operating rooms.
Additional functions are also available depending on the stage of
upgrade of the overall OR1™ system. These functions are marked
as optional and must be purchased either separately or as part of
the OR1™ project.

3.3
AV system NEO es el sistema de telemedicina dentro del sistema
KARL STORZ OR1™ NEO, que permite enrutar de forma centrali-
zada las señales de vídeo integradas hacia los monitores deseados,
así como hacia otros objetivos de vídeo; y controlar funciones del
quirófano, tales como la iluminación de la sala, las persianas u otras
funciones similares, directamente desde el sector estéril por medio
de una pantalla táctil. Además del control en el quirófano, el sistema
permite también mantener videoconferencias y conectarse con otros
quirófanos para un intercambio de información y conocimientos.
Junto con todas estas funciones, también existen otras que están

KARL STORZ OR1™ Chex is a software application which enables
checklists for surgical interventions to be made available electronical-
ly and thus to be shown on displays in the operating room. A report
of the completed checklist can subsequently be generated and
either printed out or forwarded to a patient administration system for
electronic further processing.
The device can be configured in order to create country/hospital/
intervention-specific checklists and/or procedure instructions.
The system can be run both as a stand-alone device and in con-
junction with AIDA and/or OR1™ (NEO) and can receive basic data
(patient information, surgical team, planned intervention) entered
either manually or semi-automatically per interface.
The software is independent of language and can be configured
freely.

The speech control recognizes the commands spoken by the user

by the circulating nurse or the assistant – entirely by speech control.
VOICE1®
NEO speech control works as an independent application
in the background of a SCB control NEO system. The usual opera-
tion and display of devices using a touch screen or endoscopic
monitor is still entirely possible. If required, the VOICE1®
NEO system
window is shown as well to give visual feedback on the speech
control function.
For monitoring purposes, the system gives the VOICE1®
NEO user
audio feedback on the recognized command and the current status
of VOICE1®
NEO. Feedback is given either by repeating the com-
mand immediately or merely by means of different acoustic signals.
Speech control is speaker-independent and can optionally be trained
to the specific speaker to optimize the level of recognition.

Während ein Dialogfenster geöffnet ist, sind die anderen Bereiche
gesperrt. Sie müssen erst den geöffneten Dialog beenden, um wie-

Es gibt zwei unterschiedliche Arten von Dialogen:

Dialogs may open automatically (e.g., in the event of a message) or
at the request of the user.
The other areas are blocked when a dialog window is open. You
must firstly close the open dialog in order to be able to navigate
again in the blocked areas.
There are two different types of dialog:
The dialog ends automatically once the action has been performed.
This dialog essentially shows a progress bar (e.g., print progress).
The dialog must be ended by the user (e.g., entry of password).

Taster des OR1™ control NEO abgeschaltet, kann es
anschließend zu Funktionsstörungen kommen. Schalten Sie
den Rechner immer über den Button »Beenden« aus.

restarted or shut down.
Default setting: Shutdown
WARNING: If the computer is turned off at the On/Off button
of the OR1™ control NEO, this may impair functionality.
Always switch off the computer using the ‘Exit’ button.
The light on the button goes out, the system shuts down.
