Assignment: 1
Nowadays teaching and technology is inseparable, with the fast-paced
changing of technology and learning environment. 21st
Century teacher must be
geared with knowledge, skills, attitudes and values (KSAVs) to cope with the
changes and challenges. There had been so many changes that teachers need to
adapt and carried on as part of his/her responsibility to help the learners achieve and
acquired the necessary skills in order to prepare them to face the world and to mold
them to best they can be in their future and let them be ready to meet challenges of
the 21st
Century.
In line with the changes and challenges of the 21st
Century, Guro 21 Course
of SEAMEO in partnership with DepEd served as guide for every teacher to acquire
and be acquainted with the necessary knowledge skills, attitudes and values
(KSAVs) which are very vital in order to cater the needs of the learner and to help
them as well to be holistically developed individual.
Reflection
12. The Guro 21 module 1 has four pillars of learnings namely; Learning to Know,
Learning to Live Together, Learning to Do and Learning to Be. These serve as the
guiding path of teachers which need to be developed and nurture in order to acquire
oneself the necessary skills. In addition, this module 1 emphasized that interpersonal
skill is very important to be able to communicate fairly to people with diverse
background as to belief, religion, race etc. and people coming from different walks of
life. It is also expressed that a 21st
Century teacher must possessed technical skills,
leadership and management competencies to be an effective and competent
globally. Also, teacher of 21st
Century must be holistically rounded individual who’s
ready to embrace changes, accept challenges and ready to acquire new skills and
self-discoveries. Hence, teacher of 21st
Century must foster the four pillars of
learnings as well as the body of knowledge, new skills, right attitude and good values
to be able to impart lifelong learnings to the learners because as the famous quotes
says that “We cannot give what we don’t have” therefore, as teachers we have to
equipped ourselves with the attributes of a 21st
Century. Furthermore, 21st
Century
teachers does not merely imparting knowledge to our learners but we actually
prepares them to a reality of learning that they should make use of technology, learn
to explore their surroundings and be acquainted to it, need to respect others, to be a
productive member of society, and to make use of their potentials at their own
advantage to be able to compete globally. Indeed these are the attributes that a
teacher must take into account in teaching learners of the 21st
Century to be able to
give them a fun-filled and meaningful learnings.
