Grand Hótel Reykjavík (GHR) is one of our hotels and it has an
environmental certification from the Nordic Ecolabel Svanen,
established 2012 and renewed 2015. Even though GHR is the
only hotel that has the environmental certification we have
implemented many of the requirements in to other hotels in the
chain. All soap that we use is environment certified by the Svan
label, Europian flower or similar. All paper for all hotels has
environmental certification.
When we choose to continue in this direction it makes the work
easier to implement environmental certification in to other
hotels by using environmental friendly products. So we are
prepared for next step which is to get a certification for all of
our hotels.

• In the beginning 2012 we did only have thirteen sorts of waste, today it is a round
22-26.
• If you sort you safe monney.
• If you sort you get paid for some of the materials you collect.
• In 2012 GHR did pay for collecting waste around kr 400,000.- each month or
allmoust € 2,950.-
• In 2019 GHR pay for collecting waste arond kr 400,000.- each month or allmoust €
2,950.
• This success is just besauce our staff have got a proper education and training.

Íslandshótel have held workshops to increase
the knowledge and how impotrant it is to sort everything
that goes away from our hotels. Courses twice a year.
