To begin to understand how social media does (or does not) fit into your business and marketing plan and why

Getting Started :
• Can you think of yourself, your company/services and who you serve in one paragraph ?
• Where is your audience online ? Are they on Linked In ? Facebook ?
• Understanding your digital footprint

Suggestion : Reach out and engage your sphere of valued customers and clients .You can ask them any number of
ways, emails,phone calls or try using a survey (like Survey Monkey) - this will help you see if what YOU think and
what THEY think line up !

Some elements of successful social media marketing include :
• Commitment
• Listening
• Action

Suggestion: Following up with connections-past, current & future. Be interested and interesting. By listening you will
learn more data that will help you to target and tailor your efforts and help you as you integrate
into your overall business plan. Don’t forget about bridging the gap between your online and offline activities !

Some things you can use to engage online :
• Blogging (photo/video)
• Sharing curated content across social networks
• Repurposing your current news gathering activities : do you send a newsletter ? Or pertinent emails to your
  sphere....that same content can easily be shared with your networks as appropriate

Suggestion : Exhibit your passion/expertise (for example about neighborhoods,food, music ) we’re fortunate that NYC
has so many wonderful things that you can tie in to real estate.

Suggestion : Be selective as to the number of profiles you create: you want to be able to maintain and engage....an
outdated profile on a forgotten network could do more harm than good.

Suggestion : Be sure, as with any endeavor, that you understand recommendations, rules and regulations
(as per NYS Real Estate Licensing Law, your brokerage and REBNY guidelines)

Are they on Linked In ? Facebook ? • Understanding your digital footprint Suggestion : Reach out and engage your sphere of valued customers and clients .You can ask them any number of ways, emails,phone calls or try using a survey (like Survey Monkey) - this will help you see if what YOU think and what THEY think line up ! Some elements of successful social media marketing include : • Commitment • Listening • Action Suggestion: Following up with connections-past, current & future. Be interested and interesting. By listening you will learn more data that will help you to target and tailor your efforts and help you as you integrate into your overall business plan. Don’t forget about bridging the gap between your online and offline activities ! Some things you can use to engage online : • Blogging (photo/video) • Sharing curated content across social networks • Repurposing your current news gathering activities : do you send a newsletter ? Or pertinent emails to your sphere....that same content can easily be shared with your networks as appropriate Suggestion : Exhibit your passion/expertise (for example about neighborhoods,food, music ) we’re fortunate that NYC has so many wonderful things that you can tie in to real estate. Some of the prominent social networks of the moment : • Facebook • LinkedIn • Instagram • Pinterest • YouTube • Google+ • Twitter Suggestion : Be selective as to the number of profiles you create: you want to be able to maintain and engage....an outdated profile on a forgotten network could do more harm than good.
