Coca Cola CIO
Your business is complex, as is your IT infrastructure.
Different OS, hypervisors, physical servers, maintaining your environment is challenge enough.
Adopting the latest technologies often requires learning new systems, adding additional user interfaces, and large capital expenditures.
Yesterday: Consolidation & cost. Today: new breed of benefits

Traditionally = recovery but Microsoft breaks this mold
Establish a connection -> replicated servers = traditional recovery or backup solutions.
= secondary site in a time of need + robust compute and storage capacity of Azure.
= DevTest
= extra capacity
Moore’s law – exponential doubling – everyone knows it, but difficult to grasp what it actually means
Example.
The ASCI RED supercomputer was built to model in laboratory the explosion of nuclear weapons. Commissioned as a result of nuclear test ban treaty, it was the most powerful compute in the world until early 2000s. It had processing power of 1.8 teraflops – phenomenal at the time. It cost $55M and could only be built by an economic superpower, at the forefront of computing technology.
You can play on one. Ten years later that same processing power was in the PS3, available for $300. Which means we can play amazing games inspired by spaghetti westerns (clint eastwood)
The pace of development is exceptional in human history.
