2. .
OUR PRODUCTION COMPANY
Our production company is simply called C and V productions, we
provide the physical basis for works in the realms of the performing
arts, new media art, film, television, radio, and video targeting primarily
teenage girls.
We are currently the ones directly responsible for fundraising for the
production accomplishing this through a parent company which will no
longer exist next month, currently handling the budgeting, scheduling,
scripting, the supply with talent and resources, the organisation of staff,
the production itself, post-production, distribution and marketing.
3. The members of C&V productions include:
Vanessa Asante & Caroline Dixon
Individual strengths:
Vanessa
Above all enjoys researching on new things particularly going out and looking for
locations in which to shoot films and also talking to members of the public and
getting their views on films, actors, age, genres etc.
Being a people’s person, Vanessa is also able to come to communicate effectively
when it comes to finding the solutions to tricky problems, also finding pleasure
in seeking alternative ways of doing things, constantly challenging the status
quo and looking for a better way.
Caroline
One of Caroline’s strength’s is her flexibility to handle change, at first we were
struggling in a group of 3 when another member of our team pulled out of the
production team and at first we did feel lost but Caroline made sure that she
turned that negative working environment around and in turn managed to
develop a very supportive team with just her and myself.
Caroline’s good analytical and planning skills benefited us both in terms of being
able to set goals within our production and try to achieve them.
4. “YOUR TROUBLES ARE MY TROUBLES”
Genre: Teen film
The film is based in a school setting – Turnford School with the main character
being a girl aged 15 known as “Natalie” in the film” who is best friend's with
Chelsea, a girl that went to a party and got raped.
Because Chelsea is only 15 she is scared to tell anyone about what happened and
boldly told her best friend Natalie in confidence. In the film we can see that
Natalie is finding it hard to keep it to herself as it has been bugging her all
throughout the day and then bravely decides that the right thing to do is to tell
the school social worker ‘Stacey Cornwell’ whom she has a great relationship
with.
Stacey handles the situation very calmly without shouting at either of the girls
but instead tries to resolve the situation.
This film brings out the good in teachers, social workers etc. as in today’s world
they are seen as the adults “against” the children and that they cannot be on
friendly terms with students. Which in this film is not the case as Natalie is able
to open up to Stacey discussing anything and everything with her in confidence.
5. The genre in which we have chosen for our 2 minute film opening is teen film. We have
chosen teen film because teen films are popular all over the world and are easily
recognised together with various different subject matters.
Being teenagers ourselves we believe that we have a good knowledge of a majority of the
“teenage” problems as so to speak. Teenagers come across so many things in life and get
themselves in to different kinds of situations whether being accidental or as a result of
their own actions.
Choosing teen film as our film genre is very interesting as it also gives us a chance to
understand ourselves as teens. We also enjoyed watching teen films as we feel that we
are able to relate too many of them.
It is also important that we reach out to other teenagers out there and find the right
story for our film in order for it to be successful. We have chosen to target our film at
females in particular aged 15 and older, and also using characters aged 15+ in our film to
fit the roles perfectly.
Suitable only for 15 years and over
Teen films - is a film genre targeted at teenagers and young adults in which the plot is
based upon the special interests of teenagers, such as coming of age, first love, rebellion,
conflict with parents, teen angst, and alienation. Often these normally serious subject
matters are presented in a glossy, stereotyped or trivialised way.
Films in this genre are often set in high schools, or contain characters that are of high
school age. Sexual themes are also common, as are crude forms of humour.
Codes and conventions
Codes and conventions of the teen film genre vary depending on the cultural context of
the film, but they can include proms. alcohol, illegal substances, high school, parties and
all-night raves, losing one's virginity, relationships, social groups and cliques, and
American pop-culture.
8. MARKET RESEARCH
We conducted a survey and gave it out to a range of people
of different ages & gender, we asked various questions
firstly asking the basics i.e. Gender, age group, their
favourite film genre, what will raise their interest in a
film.
Below shows screenshots of our created survey:
9. WHY YOU SHOULD PICK OUR FILM?
Our survey results came out positive and we have
worked to our best ability into trying to meet the
requirements of our target audience and as a group
we feel that you should pick our production company
because we do not only aim for a mass market appeal
but we know our film will appeal to many teenagers
over the age of 15 that feel that they are able to relate
to the film and more importantly understand the
message of the film.
