Rearing of Cabbage Butterfly

3. Making of the rearing apparatus
- A 2.5 L coke bottle (removed label) was cut at the half and the
upper portion was inverted right into the lower half
- Shrunk holes were drilled into the lower half using a small
edged knife, for aeration
- Host leaves were kept inside the apparatus to feed the growing
larvae, put inside it randomly
6. Marked events during rearing
Day 1: apparatus kept on the study table to remain so during the
rearing period; with cauliflower leaves for the larvae to feed on
Day 4: BLM leaves were offered and found less preferred to Brassica
olearaceae by the larvae
Day 10-12: larvae got inactive
Day 12: larvae morphed into green pupas on falgun 8, 2074
Day 22: an adult butterfly emerged from one of the pupa
7. DAY: 12, METAMORPHOSIS INTO PUPA.
PUPA stage lasted for 10 days (2074-11-12 to 2074-11-22)
8. Pupa remains, after adult emergence Adult right after emergence
DAY 22: METAMORPHOSIS INTO ADULT
