Ratan Tata graduated from Cornell University with a degree in architecture and engineering. He joined Tata Steel in 1962 and took over as chairman of Tata Group in 1991. During his tenure, Tata Group's revenues grew over 30 times and it made several strategic acquisitions including Tetley, Jaguar Land Rover, and Corus Steel. He is recognized for transforming Tata into a global conglomerate and launching affordable cars like the Nano to fulfill his vision of an "automobile for the common man."
