California AB 1065 Highlights • Allows for aggregation of theft incidents to prosecute case as a felony ($950 threshold in CA) rather than separate misdemeanor offenses • i.e. 3 thefts @ $350/each = $1,050 in theft, which is now a felony • Prior to AB 1065, each theft would have been charged as separate misdemeanors • If multiple thefts involving the same actors occur in multiple counties, AB 1065 allows the crime to be prosecuted in any jurisdiction where the thefts happened Opportunities • Education • Law enforcement / Prosecutors • Retail LP • Applicability to other states
