Proper use of Context makes voice experiences feel more human and helps facilitate effective, efficient conversations. You use concepts pertaining to Context in conversations all the time. When discussing with your friend what restraurant to eat at, you don’t suggest “Chili’s”, then “Taco Bell”, then “Chili’s” again. This is one consideration when dealing with “Random Lists” in Voice Design. The same choice should not be offered twice in one setting. Allowing for “Disconfirmations” can be troublesome in noisy environments, even in real person to person conversations. Imagine you ask someone “Where are you from?”. They say “Boston” but you heard “Austin”. You say “Oh, I love Austin”. They respond “No, Boston.” but it’s too loud in the room for you to hear clearly so you say “What? Not Austin?”. Your having trouble facilitating a “Disconfirmation”. This post will cover the following concepts related to Context in VUI Design: - Maintaining State - Inferences - Random Lists - Disconfirmations Enjoy! -NW
