2. Introduction
• For this task I am required to research the
guidelines that have been set for a 15 and 18
rated film. I will have to highlight why they are
rated either 15 or 18 and also I will need to
highlight the main points which make them a
15 or an 18 rated film. This will come in useful
when i am identifying my target audience.

3. 15 Certificate
What makes a 15 certified film?
• Drugs can be used but the use is not to promote
and wont use discriminating language.
• Strong language can be used as well as nudity.
• Anyone below the age is not suitable to watch
this film, for example DVD/Cinema
• Sex can be shown and portrayed without detail,
also sexual references are allowed
• Strong violence is also allowed with lots of
detail/injury however without gory scenes.

4. 18 Certified
What makes a 15 certified film?
• Anyone below the age of 18 cannot view the film,
for example DVD/Cinema’s.
• Legislation says adults have free choice in the
films they watch, however exceptions can be
made when; risk to individuals or society, for
example sexual/violence or sexual assault
promotion.
• Law has been breached
• Explicit images of sexual content that cannot be
justified.

5. Conclusion
• By completing this task I am now able to come the
conclusion that the rating that I will be choosing for
my film will be 15 certified, this is because we will be
wanting teenagers to be able to experience our film
without including to much swear words or scenes of
violence. I feel that ii would be unable to fall into the
18 rated category as we have a low budget and will
be able to show gruesome scenes /violence.
