• No headings in an essay (reports have headings)

• Don’t use words you don’t know how to use properly
– “Don’t practice confrontations you don’t discern how
toward habit suitably”
• Every paragraph should link back to the question
• In the first two sentences I should know what the
paragraph is about and how it adds to the argument
• More than one reference per paragraph
• Always link back to theory. This is a theory based
university, if you don’t like it…..

  • 8. www.monash.edu.au 8 Assignment Two • Problem Identification and Analysis (25%) – Analysing the case – Identify the theories that are relevant – i.e. Motivation > e.g Maslow (Hierarchy of Needs) > e.g McClelland (Three Needs) – I want to see the theorists and I was you to reference them (not the textbook) – Don’t tell me the theory, tell me the case and explain the theory through the case.

Leadership a) Lack of transformational leadership b) Too focus on process and not on people 2. Motivation a) Employees feel a lack of equity b) Employees need to be intrinsically motivated

  • 17. www.monash.edu.au 17 Assignment One - Feedback • Don’t be colloquial, mate – “While this might seen a little weird” • “It’s obvious” and “widely known” that you shouldn’t say this • Organizations are in America, Organisations are in Australia • Etc is too tacky, such as … is better • No headings in an essay (reports have headings) • No dot points (reports have dotpoints) • Should I have rhetorical questions in my essay?
  • 19. www.monash.edu.au 19 Assignment One - Feedback • Don’t use words you don’t know how to use properly – “Don’t practice confrontations you don’t discern how toward habit suitably” • Every paragraph should link back to the question • In the first two sentences I should know what the paragraph is about and how it adds to the argument • More than one reference per paragraph • Always link back to theory. This is a theory based university, if you don’t like it…..
