1. ‘So Paul, standing before the council, addressed
them as follows; “Men of Athens, I notice you are
very religious in every way, for as I was walking
along I saw your many shrines. And one of your
altars had this inscription on it: “To and unknown
God”. This God whom you worship without
knowing, is the one I’m telling you about. He is the
God who made the world and everything in it. Since
He is Lord of heaven and earth, he doesn’t live in
man-made temples, and human hands can’t serve
His needs – for He has no needs.
2. He himself gives life and breath to
everything, and He satisfies every need. From
one man He created all the nations throughout
the whole earth. He decided beforehand when
they should rise and fall, and He determined
their boundaries. His purpose was for the
nations to seek after God and perhaps feel their
way toward him and find him – though He is not
far from any one of us. For in Him we live and
move and exist…’ Acts 17.22-28
6. The Trinity = One God existing in 3
distinct persons.
Phil 1:2 ‘May God our father and the Lord Jesus Christ

wonderful day when the glory of our great God and
saviour, Jesus Christ will be revealed.’
Acts 5:3-4 ‘Ananias…you lied to the Holy Spirit…you
weren’t lying to us but to God’

saviour, there is none besides me. Turn to me all the
ends of the earth, for I am God and there is no other’

9. God is Spirit
‘For God is Spirit, so those who
worship Him must worship in spirit
and in truth’. John 4.24
10. God is invisible
‘No one has ever seen God. But the unique One, who is
himself God, is near to the Father’s heart. He has
revealed God to us’. John 1:18
‘Christ is the visible image of the invisible God’ Col 1:15
‘No human eye has ever seen Him, nor ever will’

11. God is light
‘This is the message we heard from
Jesus and now declare to you: God is
light and there is no darkness in Him at
all’. 1 John 1:5
12. God is eternal
‘Look, God is greater than we can understand. His years
cannot be counted’ Job 36.26

to the earth and the world, from beginning to end, you
are God’ Psalm 90.2
13. God is love
‘God is love, and all who live in love
live in God’. 1 John 4:16
14. God is a Consuming Fire
(Holy)
‘For the Lord your God is a consuming fire…’

15. God is Self Sufficient
