"Hyperloop" is the ultra high speed transport system . It is the idea that is "re-stated" by the billionaire Elon Musk. It is still conceptual but soon a reality as many companies and Student Groups have been working on the project.

3. INTRODUCTION
qHyperloop is conceptual –soon to be a reality-transportation system proposed
by billionaire Elon Musk.
q“ Hyperloop is the transportation system to build a tube under
or above the ground surface which will contain a special
environment :- compressed air . “ – Elon Musk
q Elon Musk didn’t even patented the design quoting ‘see if people find ways to
improve it’. It will be an open source design anyone can access it.
q “ One of Biggest Project for investment and cooperation “.
q“Investment ?? Co-operation” ?? HOW ?????

4. WHAT IS HYPERLOOP ?
Ø“Hyperloop” is a proposed mode of passenger and freight
transportation that would propel a pod-like vehicle through a near-
vacuum tube at more than airline speed.
Ø“Hyperloop” is the name and a re-idea proposed by
“Elon Musk”.
“Hyperloop is Self- Powering”. Is it?

5. HISTORY ?
qDue to high traffic US government proposed a high
speed train project between San Francisco to Los
Angeles called “California High Speed Rail” with
$68.4 Billion USD.
qEstimated cost of Hyperloop is $7.8 billion USD and
takes 35 mins to cover same distance.
qIn past Robert Goddard proposed using vacuum as
medium of transport there by attain speed without high
friction losses but there’s lot of possibility of leaks . And
when there is a leak it will damage the whole system.
qElon Musk thought of overcoming it with maintaining
low pressure rather than vacuum.

THE 5TH MODE OF TRANSPORTATION
It is an high speed train transporting
at an average speed of 598mph(962km/h)
which is twice the speed of a
commercial plane.

8. Elon Musk became a millionaire in his early 20’s by selling his
startup company named “Zip2” to Compaq Computers.
Founded renowned companies in various fields:
•Zip2 : online content publishing for news organization.
• X.com : payment services and money transfer options
•SpaceX :- Space Exploration Tech Corporation
Exploring the Rocket Technology
Goal : to build spacecraft for commercial space travel
•PayPal :- Acquired by Ebay in Oct 2002 for
US $ 1.6 billion
•SolarCity :-
SolarCity Corporation is an American company that specializes in solar energy services.

9. Main Parts of the “HYPERLOOP”
1. The Capsule
2. Low Pressure Tube
3. Axial Compressor
4. Suspension
5. Route
Components of the Hyperloop Transportation System
9
10. AIR RESISTANCE MUST BE OVERCOMED..
1 The Capsule
§Sealed capsules carrying 28 passenger each that travel along
the interior of the tube.
§The capsules are accelerated via a magnetic linear accelerator
fixed
on the low pressure tubes in each capsule, which gains power
through the solar energy.
10
11. AIR RESISTANCE MUST BE OVERCOMED..
1 The Capsule
§THE AIR RESISTANCE MUST BE REMOVED ? WHY ?
§BECAUSE :-
§ AERODYNAMIC DRAG INCREASES WITH THE SQUARE OF
SPEED A/C TO : DRAG EQUATION
11
12. AIR RESISTANCE MUST BE OVERCOMED..
1 The Capsule
§THE AIR RESISTANCE MUST BE REMOVED ? WHY ?
§BECAUSE :-
§ AERODYNAMIC DRAG INCREASES WITH THE SQUARE OF
SPEED and POWER WITH THE CUBE OF VELOCITY.. A/C TO :
DRAG EQUATION
§ F = ½ρCAv2
§ P = ½ρCAv3
§For example:-
§ To travel twice as fast a vehicle must overcome four times the
aerodynamic resistance and must input about double i.e 8 times
the power for which there is the solar energy conservation system
and the batteries to store it.
12
14. A SYRINGE..??
1 The Kantrowitz Limit
Biggest Challenge!
•It is a top speed law for tube-to-pod ratio.
•Meaning?
•For a vehicle to move into a tube , there must be some
minimum distance between the walls of the tube and vehicle.
Otherwise, the system will behave like a syringe and will
throw the entire pod out of the system..for that a pressurized
air is required inside the tube achieved by Air Compressor.
14
15. 2 The Low Pressure Tube
qThe tube( pod ) is made of steel. Two tubes will be welded together in a side by side
configuration to allow the capsules to travel both directions.
qPylons are placed every 100 ft (30 m) to support the tube
qSolar arrays will cover the top of the tubes in order to provide power to the system.
qAir bearings are used or air is used as a “bearing”.
15
16. HOW TO BREATHE?
•THOUGH , Air is compressed with a pressure ratio of 20:1 i.e a pressure of about 100pa is
maintained
Inside.
• Some air is stored for passenger and air bearing.
AXIAL COMPRESSOR
BREATHE..
16
17. 4- Suspension
1.Thrust air bearings offer stability and extremely low drag
2.Compressor pressurized air and aerodynamic lift provide better lift to capsule.
q A viable technical solution is magnetic levitation; however the cost associated with
material and construction is prohibitive.
q An alternative to these conventional options is an air bearing suspension.
Estimated Requirements & calculations
17
18. 4- Can it really be Self-powering?
MORE ENERGY!!
üThe Hyperloop as a whole is projected to consume an average of 21 MW.
üA solar array covering the entire Hyperloop is large enough to provide an
annual average of 76,000 hp (57 MW), significantly more than the Hyperloop
requires.
üBatteries in each pod are established that can be used to power the hyper-trains
in emergency, moreover it can be to accelerate the train.
18
19. 5-Route
qThe bend radii have been calculated so that the
passenger does not experience inertial accelerations that
exceed 0.5g. This is deemed the maximum inertial
acceleration that can be comfortably sustained by
humans for short periods. To further reduce the inertial
acceleration experienced by passengers, the capsule
and/or tube will incorporate a mechanism that will
allow a degree of ‘banking’.
19
20. 5-General Questions
qPower Outage!! No Problem.
qImmune to weather.
qReliability (FASTER TO REACH ANYWHERE and ENERGY
COST is LESS).
SAFETY? IS IT SAFE !!!!
YES!
