Market Positioning
What is Market Positioning?
 Marketing positioning refers to the ability
to influence consumer perceptions about
the brand or the product to the
competitors. The goal of market positioning
is to create an image of the product in the
market so that the consumer can use them
in the special way.
 For example:
 A handbag maker may position itself as a
luxury status symbol
 A TV maker may position its TV as the most
innovative and cutting-edge
 A fast-food restaurant chain may position
itself as the provider of cheap meals
How to Create an Effective Market
Positioning Strategy?
 Create a positioning statement that will
serve to identify your business and how you
want the brand to be perceived by
consumers.
1. Determine company uniqueness by
comparing to competitors
 Compare your and the competitors
company and try to find the difference
between both to create opportunities.
Focus on your strengths and make criteria
how you can use these opportunities to
make your company success.
2. Identify current market position
 Identify your market position and evaluate
that how your new positioning can make
you different from your competitors.
3. Competitor positioning analysis
 Identify the condition of the market and
how much all competitors can affect each
other.
4. Develop a positioning strategy
 Through the preceding step you can your
company can rate itself, what’s its position
in the market, what are the conditions of
the market and how you can different your
company from other competitors.

The goal of market positioning is to create an image of the product in the market so that the consumer can use them in the special way.
  • 3.  For example:  A handbag maker may position itself as a luxury status symbol  A TV maker may position its TV as the most innovative and cutting-edge  A fast-food restaurant chain may position itself as the provider of cheap meals
  • 4. How to Create an Effective Market Positioning Strategy?  Create a positioning statement that will serve to identify your business and how you want the brand to be perceived by consumers.
