2. Objectives
• After this presentation students will be able to:
• Define Quadratic Equation
• Know its standard form
• Use of quadratic formula
• The need of quadratic formula

4. Name of Quadratic Equation
• The name Quadratic comes from "quad"
meaning square, because the variable
gets squared (like x2).
• It is also called an "Equation of Degree 2"
(because of the "2" on the x)

5. Definition
• A quadratic equation in the variable x is an
equation of the form ax2+bx+c = 0, where a≠0
and a, b, c are real numbers.

6. Quadratic equations
• In quadratic equation :
• Highest power(degree) is 2
• In equation general form: ax2+bx+c = 0
• Quadratic equation with 0 ax2+bx+c = 0
• ax2+bx+c It is expression without 0
• a can not be 0

7. Standard form
It is the standard form.
• a, b and c are known real numbers. a can't
be 0.
• "x" is the variable or unknown (we don't
know it yet).

does not look like that,

9. How To Solve Them?
• The "solutions" to the Quadratic Equation are
where it is equal to zero.
• They are also called "roots", or sometimes
"zeros“. (It means to find the value of x)
• We can solve it with the help of this Quadratic
formula.

• Quadratic formula can be used at some real life
problems , example:
• For finding:
Time, velocity, distance, height, area, length, speed,,
cost, benefits etc

• You have designed a new style of sports bicycle!
Now you want to make lots of them and sell
them for profit.

14. Conclusion
The name quad means square because the
equation has degree two , if it has degree one we
can not call it quadratic equation. There are
different methods of finding roots/zeros which
means to find the value of x.
