 What is Education?
The proper definition of education is the course of action becoming an educated
person. The human beings who are being an educated person, it means you have
right to use to most advantageous states of brain. I want to describe another
definition of education which is that, Education in its common sense which is a
type of learning in which understanding, skills, and way of life of a group of
people are transferred from one creation to other throughout teaching, training
and follow a line of investigation.
Education is the social institution which provides the important knowledge to the
society, which including basic facts, job skills and cultural norms values.
The aim of education is not knowledge but the aim of education is action.
(i) An educated man is one whose structure of life as exhibited in his
behavior, the actions to which he is dedicated, his judgments and
feelings is thought to be advantageous.
(ii) Suchlike he is trained to do he must have knowledge, not just talent, and
a sympathetic of principles. His form of life must also display some
Role Of Education For Society.
4
mastery of forms of thought and awareness which are not harnessed
with the sole purpose to utilitarian or vocational purposes or completely
restricted to one mode.
(iii) His knowledge and understanding must not be not moving either in the
common sense that they make no difference to his general vision of the
world, his actions within it and reactions to it or in the sense that they
absorb no concern for the standards immanent in forms of thought and
understanding, as well as the ability to attain them.
 What is Society?
The term society has been derived from Latin word ‘socious’ that means
relationship or companionship. Thus the society means ‘A large group of persons,
who are associative with each other.’
Linton was the philosophers he said: Any group of people who have lived and
worked together long enough to get themselves organized and to think of
themselves as a social unit with well defined limits.
5
Society is the system of relationship between people, it consist of members, the
member of the society share sense of common identity.
The members of a society are small like a family and be large like a nation.
The aim of Society and Culture is to build up a student's knowledge,
understanding, skills, standards and attitudes important to achieving social
and cultural literacy by examining the relations between persons,
societies, cultures and environments across time.
All the way through the study of Society and Culture, students will build up:
Knowledge and understanding about:
 personal, public and cultural identity
 cultures shared by members of societies
 interactions of persons, societies, cultures and environments transversely
time
 stability and change, personal and social futures and strategies for change
 the role of power, authority, gender and technology in societies and
cultures
 The methodologies of social and cultural research.
6
 Relationship between Education and society
It recognizes a strong relationship between the two concepts. Education is seen as
a means of cultural communication from one generation to another in any given
society. Society is defined as the entire variety of social relationships of people
living in a certain geographic region and having a sense of belonging to the same
group.
We have seen education in particular as a means of cultural communication from
one generation to another. The parents are the first teachers of the child and they
still maintain an educative role throughout the early and influential years of the
child. In the majority of the increasing nations of the world, including Nigeria,
parents are responsible for sending their children or wards to school. in view of
the fact that these nations are undergoing quick socioeconomic and political
changes, they eyewitness special problems in evolving the right education system,
which will be able to generate the tolerable manpower needs in all the parts of
the society.
It is observed by clarks in 1948 he observed that, A general knowledge and getting
of the ideals and aims of our society is important for all citizens, and it must be
achieved through education. (Observed by clarks 1948).
7
Another area of the relationship between education and society is through the
collection of the entire society into a hierarchical order that is, throughout the
social arrangement in which education plays a famous and important role in
setting up educated individuals into social classes.
And also Ottaway observed in 1980 he said, It is logical to imagine that the type of
education given in each society will change from time to time as the society
changes. (Observed by Ottaway 1980) .
 What is Role Of Education For Society
Education as an necessary activity in the development of society has seen most
important conversions, from which the innovative methods and models of the
current educational system have resulted. The relationship between the
individual and society becomes more complex via education, as the individual
achieves the ability to make his donation that would balance the profits of his
living between other individuals. In this background, education represents the
basis of a society leaning towards the future, knowledge becomes the main
section of the economic and social growth, and the economic emergency
becomes an obstruction in the development of the knowledge-based society.
Therefore, the development of the knowledge based society is dependent on the
8
creation of knowledge, on its spreading via education and guidance and on its
spreading via messages and on its attachment in technological modernism.
Education has played and is still playing an important role in forming and training
the individual throughout his continuation. a number of writers in their works
highlight the importance of education over the time.
Jean-Jacques Rousseau (1996) came up with a definition of education starting
from three basic sources: nature, humans and objects. The unstructured
development of our organs and competences is education provided by nature.
The habitual operation of these competences is the education broadcasted to us
by other humans. The private experience achieved from the tools and things
surrounding us, is the education provided by objects.
Education is an necessary human good feature, a need of society, basis of good
life and sign of independence. Education is important for addition of separate
creatures.
9
The important role of education such as:
 Education is highly important in today society.
 Education is a requirement of society, basis of good life and sign of
freedom.
 Education plays most important role in every one life without education
persons are nothing.
 Education prepares a person to adapt to new skills and value that will be
very important in today society.
10
Education Makes Better Citizens
Man is nothing but an animal. It is the education that trains him a lot of things,
teaches the etiquettes, rules and system of life etc. All these things effect in
converting man from an animal to well-mannered citizen.
Brings Confidence
Nothing in the life can be accomplished if we don’t have trust on ourselves.
Education is what brings self-assurance in us. We get the confidence of doing the
things on our own. Our self-assurance then helps us in passing all the difficulties
that come on way to our aim. Education also makes us better in communication
with others.
Ensures a Bright Future
An educated person lives a happy life always. He/she has a dazzling future that on
one can pull from them. Education wakes the out of sight talent and skills of any
person. This hidden talent and skills give us employment and a totally protected
future. It is the education that helps us in achieving new altitudes in our life.
Spreads Awareness
An educated person tries to understand each and every thing on its own rather
than blindly following anyone else. This results in distribution awareness
11
everywhere. An educated person does not only decline the mistaken beliefs
him/herself, but also give explanation the genuine reason behind any happening,
to others. Thus education clears out the darkness with the intense light of
knowledge.
Educated Persons Help in Progress of Country
People of any particular country can live happily only if the country has all the
resources, or basically declare, country is rich in every aspect. Educated persons
know attractive well that what is incorrect and what is correct. They do not need
to follow the words of third person. Educated persons are well aware from their
country’s rules and laws. They know attractive well about their responsibilities
and essential rights. They know the importance of paying taxes, and thus pay
their taxes on time. All these qualities of educated persons help them play a vital
role in the improvement of their country.
So, this was the list of some profits of education in our life. If there is no
education, then there is no life. All those of you who are reading in good schools
and colleges are without a doubt very lucky. You all have the golden chance to
own the ornament-like study, and to get yourself counted in the list of educated
people.
12
Education is highly important in today society. Education is a formal process of
learning in which some people consciously teach while others adopt the social
role of learner. Education plays a major role in everyone life without education a
person will not get far in life. Education prepares a person to adapt to new skills
and value that will be very essential in today society.
In the pictures above it represent a diploma, money, and inspiring word that also
motivate people to continue with their education. Having an education also
means having money a better future and having all the knowledge that a person
13
needs in order to be successful in everyday life. By having an education can also
mean happiness because when having an education a person can feel proud of
their self that they accomplish a goal in their life, and are able to get a job in the
future. Having a high school diploma is still better than having no degree at all,
but it won’t get a person a good job in the future.
Education help people learn how to read, write, and do math also they learn
other languages. Learning to do all these things helps children prepare for the
future. Everyone needs to learn how to write for whenever a person gets a job or
for filling out forms and etc. Also, reading is very essential because there’s
important signs everywhere, there words and books everywhere, even on the
Internet. Reading is a good way to gain a lot of knowledge. Math is also an
important thing that everyone should know. Math allows a person to count
money so a person won’t get gaged at the store or mall. Everyone use math a lot
in today society because numbers are everywhere. Learning a new language can
be very beneficial because it allows a person to be bilingual and knowing more
than one language can be very essential when maintaing a job or just in life.
Having an education is very essential and everyone should take advantage of their
education. An education will help a person be prepared for the “real world”.
14
Education allows people to have lots of skill and knowledge and it’s always good
to learn new things each day because the skill you learn in school you use outside
of school. Having a preschool education and having a high school diploma is really
good, because it can help a person be successful especially if a person goes
beyond high school. Having a college degree is more beneficial in today society,
because it’s good to have a high school diploma because you can go to college,
but more jobs now in days prefer a person to have some type of certification or at
least an associate’s degree. I consider everyone should know the value of an
education and know that having an education is just for a person own good.
15
Conclusion
Education is essential for everyone. It is the level of education that helps people
earn respect and identification. In my view, it is necessary part of life both
personally and socially. However, the unequal standard of education is still a most
important problem that needs to be solved.
The importance of education is undeniable for every single person. It goes
without saying that education has a positive effect on human life. All people need
to study. Only with the beginning of education can people gain knowledge and
increase their view over the world. For example, learning by watching TV or
reading books gives people a huge amount of information about anything they
are interested in such as mathematics, current news, exchange rates, other
countries' cultures and so on.
The education plays such a rudimentary role on our society that we cannot even
imagine a life without it. It is a determined element for the civilization of human
society. Not only does it helps us develop healthy surroundings but it also
generates an advance community. As a matter of fact, everything we create today
is based on the knowledge that we obtain throughout our life by way of
education.

By having an education can also mean happiness because when having an education a person can feel proud of their self that they accomplish a goal in their life, and are able to get a job in the future. Having a high school diploma is still better than having no degree at all, but it won’t get a person a good job in the future. Education help people learn how to read, write, and do math also they learn other languages. Learning to do all these things helps children prepare for the future. Having a preschool education and having a high school diploma is really good, because it can help a person be successful especially if a person goes beyond high school. Having a college degree is more beneficial in today society, because it’s good to have a high school diploma because you can go to college, but more jobs now in days prefer a person to have some type of certification or at least an associate’s degree. I consider everyone should know the value of an education and know that having an education is just for a person own good.
  • 15. 15 Conclusion Education is essential for everyone. It is the level of education that helps people earn respect and identification. In my view, it is necessary part of life both personally and socially. However, the unequal standard of education is still a most important problem that needs to be solved. The importance of education is undeniable for every single person. It goes without saying that education has a positive effect on human life. All people need to study. Only with the beginning of education can people gain knowledge and increase their view over the world. For example, learning by watching TV or reading books gives people a huge amount of information about anything they are interested in such as mathematics, current news, exchange rates, other countries' cultures and so on. The education plays such a rudimentary role on our society that we cannot even imagine a life without it. It is a determined element for the civilization of human society. Not only does it helps us develop healthy surroundings but it also generates an advance community. As a matter of fact, everything we create today is based on the knowledge that we obtain throughout our life by way of education.
