Executive Committee Meeting
March 26, 2010
Minutes
Call to Order
President Jarret Byrne called the meeting to order at approximately 10:47 a.m.
Present: President Jarrett Byrne, Vice President Alex Barkley, Secretary Inga Jacobson,
Treasurer Melissa Steirer, Appointed Member Christina Collison, and Faculty Advisor
Dr. Kim Nelson.
Secretary’s Report (Approve Minutes)
M. Steier motioned to approve. C. Collison seconded and the motion carried.
I. Jacobson stated she constructed a binder containing all of the year’s minutes, most of
the agendas, and the by-laws for the Public Administration Student Association. J.
Byrne stated he would forward all of the agendas to I. Jacobson to fill in the gaps and
also the finalized version of the student comments from the survey in the Fall 2009
semester.
Vice President Report
A. Barkley stated there will be a social event held at Fatty’s in DeKalb following the
Spring Colloquium today.
Treasurer’s Report
M. Steirer said she has been working on putting the budget materials together to submit
next year. There are 26 questions that need to be answered. The committee assisted
M. Steirer in generating responses. M. Steirer said she will have the budget done by
the end of the semester.
PASA Memo to Faculty (Attachment A)
C. Collison said a draft memo was attached to the agenda. C. Collison, J. Byrne, and
A. Barkley worked on developing the memo based on discussions from previous
meetings. They identified several key elements that were worthwhile and actionable.
The issue is explained and then a solution is proposed. The memo will be given to the
faculty prior to their meeting on April 16, 2010. An additional memo will be given to
students.
A. Barkley moved to allow J. Byrne to solely approve the memo after final corrections
are made. M. Steirer seconded and the motion carried.
2. PA Student Association March 26, 2010
2010 Adopt-A-Highway Clean Up
J. Byrne said MPA Coordinator Samantha Fisher received an e-mail from the DeKalb
Public Works stating that the Public Administration Student Association needs to do a
clean up so they can mow. The Committee decided the cleanup will take place on April
17, 2010 at 10 a.m.
Colloquium Topics Voting Results
J. Byrne stated that at the time of the meeting the results were unknown.
PASA Logo (Attachment B)
J. Byrne said two designs were attached to the agenda. One is red and the other is
peacock blue.
A. Barkley moved to have the Public Administration Student Association logo in
peacock blue. M. Steirer seconded and the motion carried.
Graduation/Awards Ceremony Updates
K. Nelson said those graduating should be getting letters this week saying you passed
the comprehensive exam and graduation information. K. Nelson said there will be
appetizers and beverages at the ceremony. No alcohol. First years should also be
getting invitations to the ceremony.
Open Discussion
J. Byrne asked about any news about the mentor program. K. Nelson didn’t have any
new information.
Next Meeting
The next meeting will be held on April 8th at 2 p.m.

A. Barkley moved to adjourn. M. Steirer seconded it and the motion carried. Meeting
adjourned at 11:30 a.m.
