2. QTestAssessment
• Language-Free Culture-Fair Assessment
• A tool for assessing the general cognitive capacity of
students, trainees and workplace candidates who may have
language, communication, educational or cultural barriers
• Provides schools, training providers and organisations with
an insight into a candidate’s training potential or
‘trainability’
• Provides individuals with self-awareness of their potential, a
notion of possibility and sense of realistic aspiration
• Is predictive of an individual’s ability to successfully learn
and apply complex new skills

• Used to assist in streaming assessed people into suitable
educational, training and employment pathways based on
their potential.
• Individually administered for approximately 1 hour
• Consists of six sub-tests:
• Subtest 1: Sequential Memory Subtest 2: Visual Memory
• Subtest 3: Planning Subtest 4: Abstract Manipulation
• Subtest 5: Pattern Matching Subtest 6: Design Sequencing
• Each subtest involves tasks where the candidates are
required to construct or manipulate items, or recall patterns,
shapes or sequences.

• Assessment is conducted with no verbal instructions
• Answer sheet and test items are out of view so
candidate does not know how many items are in each
sub-test
• Modelling of required tasks is conducted by the Assessor
through structured practice items
• Assessor only progresses once they are 100% sure the
candidate understands the required task
• Maintains a sense of trust in the process for the
candidate, leading to trust in the outcome
• Different discontinuation rules apply for each sub-test.

• Training of relevant/appropriate personnel as Q Test
Assessors (exclusive programs for max of 8 trainees OR
individual participants in location based programs)
• VEQ Consultant Assessors to conduct Contracted
Assessments
• Lifetime lease of Q Test Assessment Kits
• Q Test Assessments - Raw data collected is forwarded
to VEQ for analysis, scoring and reporting
• VEQ maintains and develops data for future tailored
compilation, localised norms and data management 17

• Provides valid, reliable insight into the capability of
students, trainees and workplace candidates who may have
language, cultural or educational barriers to training and
employment (eg. Indigenous, CALD migrant, dyslexic)
• Assists optimise training investment and work selections
• Can assist establish realistic, long term pathways for
students, trainees, candidates and current employees and in
meeting their local and diversity employment targets
• Can lead to increased self belief, reduced resistance to
assessment, greater satisfaction, greater productivity and a
more sustainable, diverse student body or workforce
