YouthVoice 2015 report: Interview with Rowan County Manager Aaron Church, tour of County Administrative Building, and report on Board of Commissioners meeting
4. Meeting with County Manager, Aaron
Church
Mr. Church taught me about his job as County
Manager as well as the responsibilities for the
Board of County Commissioners.
5. Our meeting
Mr. Church is using a slide show to
help me understand the duties of the
Commissioners.
I asked about the finances for
Rowan County, he gave me a graph
which showed me how our money
is spent. Most of our money is
spent on the children in our county.
7. Tour of the Administrative Building
This is Carolyn Barger, Clerk to the Board. She is
very kind. She gave me a tour of the building
and a history lesson.
12. The Remodel
The building use to be a jail and a court
room. Now it is the Administrative
office. They left some original details,
like the US Marshall door. Very cool
building!
13. Board Meeting getting ready to start.
In the middle is the Chairman of the
Board, Mr. Greg Edds. Vice Chairman
Mr. Jim Greene, Ms. Judy Klusman, Mr.
Craig Pierce, and Mr. Mike Caskey.
Rowan County Board of Commissioners.
14. After the Board Meeting
After the meeting I met
Chairman Greg Edds and Mike
Caskey. They congratulated
me for going to the NCACC
Youth Summit.
15. Approval from the board to amend the
leash laws.
Dr. Rebekah F. Julian, DVM and a representative from No Pet Left Behind Rowan, addressed the
Board about their program. The Trap-Neuter-Return program will help cut down on the feral cat
colonies in Rowan County. The problem was amending the leash law to NOT include feral cats.
