How did you use media technologies in the research, planning, construction and evaluation stages

MEDIA TECHNOLOGIES
IN THE RESEARCH,
PLANNING,
CONSTRUCTION AND
EVALUATION STAGES

2. PLANNING
Microsoft Word
We used this software frequently during the
production process to create our filming and
meeting schedules with our actors. – This helped
us focus on any problems that we had during
filming and how we would minimise those
problems.
During the planning process, everyone in the
group had a set of individual tasks to do with
deadlines and this was created by using the table
functions.
Word also used to write up our film script and
contracts.
3. PLANNING
Facebook
I used this Social Networking site to keep in touch
with my group as this was the fastest and
convenient way to communicate with them.
I also used this site to send out surveys on
audience research.
Phone and E-mail was also an effective means of
communication as this allowed me to keep in
touch with everyone involved in the filming
process and constantly update them on filming
dates.
4. PLANNING
iMovie
This software was used to create my animatic
storyboard for the opening scenes in which I
had to draw still images of the camera shots
and then have them imported through iMovie.
This was done to give us an idea of what our
scenes would look like and be familiar with the
software.
5. RESEARCH
Survey Monkey
We used this website to create a survey on audience
research and what they enjoy or like to see in films. This
was a fast and efficient way to get quick feedback from a
range of people with different opinions. It also creates
charts and graphs so that our data can be represented in a
professional and clear manner.
6. RESEARCH
IMDb (The Internet Movie Database)
When we came to a final decision of our genre
we used IMDb to research into the genre and
some specific films to give us a better
understanding of the genre and it’s
conventions. – IMDb has information of over a
thousands films and has message boards for
the public.
7. RESEARCH
BBC Film Network
From this website I was able to watch short
films based on our genre, to gain a better
understanding and to pick out any similarities
they have between them. This was also done
through YouTube as this is also a good
platform to view short films. YouTube also
helped me to broaden my knowledge of
camera techniques.
8. RESEARCH
As a group we looked at a famous institution, 20th Century
Fox and one of it’s successful films, Avatar.
We researched into why the film was such a success and
this helped give us an idea of what engages the audience.
The technology used in Avatar includes CGI, Stereoscopic
3D Fusion Camera System and Digital Animation.
9. CONSTRUCTION
iMac Computers
This is where I planned and uploaded all my
work. It was the main platform I used as this
was where I constructed all my research and
documents.
10. CONSTRUCTION
Camera
We used the AVC camera to shoot our scenes
as it was guaranteed high quality and we
wanted our videos to be professional.
11. CONSTRUCTION
Adobe Photoshop C3
We used this software to create our film poster as this
allowed us to be creative when altering the images
and colour to which suited the character and the story
of our film.
12. EVALUATION
Blogspot.com
This website allowed me to blog all the development
and creative stages I took during our production
process.
PowerPoint
Using this software it has allowed me to present
information and results in a creative and visual way.
