2. Understanding our Group
Our regional ISPs operate under two main brand names.
Regional support services team located in Nairobi with multilingual 24/7 Customer
Support for partners and multinational business customers.
Est. 2003. Systems Integrator with extensive regional experience of network build
and rollout of VSAT, WiMAX and other wireless services. Acquired the regional ISP
assets of Telkom South Africa in Dec 2013 and been consolidating and growing its
base ever since as a pan-African ISP operator with strong focus on satellite solutions.
3. Satellite is a Technology
• Supports multiple end functionality
• Provides backhaul alternatives for mobile
operators
• Enables last mile to a different segment
However still tainted by so many previous experiences and
perceptions; yet so much new investment and activity
happening at the moment. What will be different?
Reliable
4. What does the customer want?
• Availability: wants the service on-demand
when required
• Accessibility: wants the service where required
(location and device specific)
• Affordability: wants a reasonably priced
service within budgetary means
Often overlooked is RESPECT with regard to service levels from
operator in terms of value for money, customer support and
network quality
5. Satellite has become more affordable
• Satellite connectivity may once have been
considered prohibitive, but like every last mile
access on the continent, satellite connectivity
costs have reduced substantially over time which
has widened its market appeal
• Today, satellite connectivity could be considered
prohibitive in urban areas; however outside the
cities, satellite today is now a viable option
whereas it previously would have been
considered too prohibitive for that user segment
New Ka HTS pricing reshaped current satellite services
6. Even more affordability is coming…
• Even more competitive offers with improved
coverage and geographically targeted high
throughput ultimately lowering monthly service
costs for the benefit of all changing efficiencies and
price points.
• Expect an increase take-up of satellite services in
urban and peri-urban areas as back-up services for
terrestrial connectivity.
• Widespread availability of WiFi access accessed via
a satellite backhaul link enabling greater access to
connectivity across the continent
WARNING: Data usage is addictive!
The demand exists. We are merely balancing the price point to
maximise utilization within current capacity levels.
