As Director Institute of Management & Skill Development – SRSO Sukkur Sindh
Sindh Rural Support Organization - Feb 2014 – Feb 2015
Based in Sukkur Sindh the IMSD is integral training arm of SRSO and an apex body of human
development in the upper Sindh which was primarily established to cater to the training needs
of SRSO and its attached rural communities with the broader goals of improving the quality life
of rural poor through capacity building and skill enhancement trainings, specifically by
upgrading technical and managerial skills at the grass root level.
The IMSD is also mandated to provide training and learning opportunities to rapidly growing
human resources of development, corporate sectors, national and multi-national donor
organizations, NGO and INGOs functioning in the area. The IMSD since it’s established has
designed and delivered trainings to several groups of participants drawn both from community
and staff. While the social mobilization is the key of the performance of SRSO, it is logically
translated into human resource development of the community – in the shape of structured
training and courses. Hence the core objectives of IMSD are;
• Enhance Human Productivity through strengthening and encouraging the village based
skills
• Improve Utilization of Local Resources
• Assist the Rural Communities in Harnessing their potential and abilities in bringing
about a positive change in their lives
• Improve the management and leadership at the grassroots level for both men and women
development
• Foster a cadre of village specialists in various fields
• Develop a cadre of resource persons in SRSO who specialized in social mobilization

As Director Bureau for University Extension Special Programmes / Projects (BUESP) AIOU
From June 2011 – December 2013
The Bureau for University Extension Special Programmes / Projects was established in the
University initially to develop and offer special programmes, cater to the educational needs at
pre-tertiary levels; initially to respond illiteracy in the country by developing programmes for
illiterates and semi-literates, offer special programmes for out of school dropout children,
develop community capacity building special programmes demanded by the INGOs / NGOs etc.
Besides that the BUESP also offers a variety of life enrichment skill enhancement Short Term Educational
programmes for all kinds of audiences; youth working in the community development NGOs, banking
sector, hotel and tourism organizations etc.
Few Accomplishments as Director BUESP / Project Director Plan International Funded
“Girl Power Programme” and ‘Building Skills for Life” Project and Open Schooling Project.
 Developed strategy for takeoff from dormant redundancy to full capacity delivery
 Gave jump start from Ground O Level to the mainstreaming of 9000 out of school
adolescent girls of age between 14 and 19 years old in rural districts of Pakistan by
signing Pak Rupees 100 Million bilateral agreements with Plan International (Pakistan).
 Developed Strategy for successful implementation of Plan International (Pakistan) funded
“Girl Power Programme” and “Building Skills for life Programme for providing 9000
primary pass out of school girls’ middle level education on fast track mode in the 105
Union Councils of the remote districts of Sindh and Punjab.
 Developed Project Infrastructure, resources mobilization and hiring of projects staff and
teaming arrangements with internal stakeholders.
 Developed specially designed curriculum and book materials for middle level condensed
course for class 6 up to class 8.
 Developed Teacher Training Manuals for teaching of specially designed course materials
for Foundation Course and class 6 to 8 by the locally appointed untrained teachers.
 Provided 7 Attritions of Trainings to 36 Master Trainers and 10 Field Coordinators of the
Projects after every semester.
 Developed learner identification / Registration Tools
 Selection and Placement of field coordination teams in the Project Districts for effective
coordination and close monitoring of learning process.
 Developed Tools and Criteria’s for the induction of untrained teachers from local areas.
 Establishment of fast track learning centers in 102 UCs of Vehari, Chakwal in Punjab
and in Thatta District Sindh.
 Developed and undertook Community Mobilization strategy for opening of fast track
learning Centers in their Mohalas and vicinity govt. schools and supporting / allowing
their adolescent girls going to the fast track learning centers.
 Taking Semester Assessments, establishing examination centers and conducting annual
examinations with the support of Govt. School Management, arranging paper marking
and compiling results.
 Generating Monthly, Quarterly, Biannual and Annual Reports and presenting in Project
Steering Committee meetings with Project Donors and other stakeholders.
 Developing reading materials ; easy to read interesting story books in association with
UNESCO for GPP Learners for creating reading interest among them and enhancing their
vocabulary .
 Close liaison and effective coordination with Provincial and District Administration for
smooth implementation of projects in the respective provinces and districts.
 Developed long awaited “Feasibility Report on Open Schooling for Pakistan” along
with consultant Prof. Tony Dodd - Commonwealth of Learning Canada.

 Signed MoU with COL and achieved grant in aid from COL for developing of Open
Schooling Course materials.
 Negotiated & Signed MoU with ICRC for Developing Teacher Training Manuals for
Teacher Training Institutes of Pakistan.
 Gave presentations to various INGOs, key government functionaries including President
of Pakistan in support of Open Schooling for Pakistan Project.
As General Manager Rural Finance Resource Center – National Institute of Banking and
Finance – State Bank of Pakistan Islamabad – June 2009 – May 2011
Rural Finance Resource Centre (RFRC) was established in National Institute of Banking and
Finance – State Bank Pakistan in 2005 under Rural Finance Sector Development Program
(RFSDP) with the allocation of USD 1 million from USD 250 million ADB loan no.1987PAK
extended to Govt. of Pakistan for strengthening of key institutions to help them provide
affordable financial services for increasing rural incomes, employment, and investments. The
core objectives of the establishment of RFRC were;
 Capacity building of commercial banks, RFIs / MFIs for providing cost effective,
improved financial services to the rural customers destined to increase their incomes.
 Assist government in accelerating rural economic growth by addressing key constraints
in rural finance.
 Improving governance of rural finance / microfinance operations through capacity
building trainings and infrastructural support.
 Developing demand driven products & services with recognition of gender dimensions.
Instituting enhanced portfolio management capability.
 Installing systems and procedures for reducing costs. Encourage private sector
participation in rural finance at minimal transaction cost.
 Promote best practice microfinance / rural finance intermediation.
Few Accomplishments AS General Manager RFRC – NIBAF State Bank of Pakistan
 Organized training course on “Fundamentals of Microfinance“for microfinance
practioners of Microfinance Banks/ Microfinance Institutions and commercial banks.
 Organized Orientation Training Program on “Microfinance Regulatory Framework &
Microfinance banking” for NRSP which was attended by 27 regional managers and
regional programme officers of NRSP from their different regions across Pakistan.
 Developed two week duration “Microfinance Certification Course” in collaboration
with RFSDP- European Union, SBP with all key Microfinance market players on board.
 Organized two days workshop on ”Microfinance product innovations in challenging
times” in collaboration with Microfinance Department, State Bank of Pakistan, which
was attended by the participants from leading MFBs/MFIs, Commercial Banks and
development NGOs from all over the country.
 Negotiated and signed MoU with NRSP in November, 2009 for providing capacity building
training to their staff for starting Microfinance Bank Operations.
 Conducted TNA of NRSP staff and allied communities in NRSP Bahawalpur Region and
prepared customized tailor based training program that covered all the important
dimensions of commercial banking and microfinance best practices.
 Delivered Banking transformation training to 580 staff members at all levels in 31
iterations, 414 sessions, 27.4 training weeks and 137 training days at NRSP HRD Centre
Bahawalpur.
 Created linkage between NIBAF - AIOU and NRSP for achieving common goals of Human
Development that resulted the signing of a MoU between NIBAF & AIOU.
 Recoded and edited Video Footage of NRSP – MFB Banking Training process and on the
life and economy of Rural Communities in and around Bahawalpur.

 Recorded and edited a pilot Video Documentary on NIBAF.
As Regional General Manager – Khushhali Bank Limited – July 2001-June 2004
A premier microfinance bank which was established by the Government of Pakistan to provide
retail microfinance & other social services to the poor borrowers at gross root level directed
towards poverty eradication by employing Social Mobilization as core strategy of community
development. As pioneering team member I was entrusted with the responsibility of launching
social development programme in drought affected arid / semi arid districts of southern Sindh.
In my role as Regional General Manager I was responsible for providing coaching, guidance and
strategic leadership to the diversified teams of financial as well dedicated social development
professionals in complete harmony and team spirit. Later on elevated as Manager Social
Sector Development Khushhali Bank Corporate Office Islamabad, I developed social sector
development plans including capacity building / skill enhancement trainings especially for rural
women, small infrastructure development schemes, educational plans, and health facilities for
the poor communities, especially for rural women in the remote areas of the country.

  • 3. 3 As Director Institute of Management & Skill Development – SRSO Sukkur Sindh Sindh Rural Support Organization - Feb 2014 – Feb 2015 Based in Sukkur Sindh the IMSD is integral training arm of SRSO and an apex body of human development in the upper Sindh which was primarily established to cater to the training needs of SRSO and its attached rural communities with the broader goals of improving the quality life of rural poor through capacity building and skill enhancement trainings, specifically by upgrading technical and managerial skills at the grass root level. The IMSD is also mandated to provide training and learning opportunities to rapidly growing human resources of development, corporate sectors, national and multi-national donor organizations, NGO and INGOs functioning in the area. The IMSD since it’s established has designed and delivered trainings to several groups of participants drawn both from community and staff. While the social mobilization is the key of the performance of SRSO, it is logically translated into human resource development of the community – in the shape of structured training and courses.   • 4. 4 As Director Bureau for University Extension Special Programmes / Projects (BUESP) AIOU From June 2011 – December 2013 The Bureau for University Extension Special Programmes / Projects was established in the University initially to develop and offer special programmes, cater to the educational needs at pre-tertiary levels; initially to respond illiteracy in the country by developing programmes for illiterates and semi-literates, offer special programmes for out of school dropout children, develop community capacity building special programmes demanded by the INGOs / NGOs etc. Besides that the BUESP also offers a variety of life enrichment skill enhancement Short Term Educational programmes for all kinds of audiences; youth working in the community development NGOs, banking sector, hotel and tourism organizations etc. Few Accomplishments as Director BUESP / Project Director Plan International Funded “Girl Power Programme” and ‘Building Skills for Life” Project and Open Schooling Project.  Developed strategy for takeoff from dormant redundancy to full capacity delivery  Gave jump start from Ground O Level to the mainstreaming of 9000 out of school adolescent girls of age between 14 and 19 years old in rural districts of Pakistan by signing Pak Rupees 100 Million bilateral agreements with Plan International (Pakistan).  Developed Strategy for successful implementation of Plan International (Pakistan) funded “Girl Power Programme” and “Building Skills for life Programme for providing 9000 primary pass out of school girls’ middle level education on fast track mode in the 105 Union Councils of the remote districts of Sindh and Punjab.  Developed Project Infrastructure, resources mobilization and hiring of projects staff and teaming arrangements with internal stakeholders.  Developed specially designed curriculum and book materials for middle level condensed course for class 6 up to class 8.  Developed Teacher Training Manuals for teaching of specially designed course materials for Foundation Course and class 6 to 8 by the locally appointed untrained teachers.  Provided 7 Attritions of Trainings to 36 Master Trainers and 10 Field Coordinators of the Projects after every semester.  Developed learner identification / Registration Tools  Selection and Placement of field coordination teams in the Project Districts for effective coordination and close monitoring of learning process.  Developed Tools and Criteria’s for the induction of untrained teachers from local areas.  Establishment of fast track learning centers in 102 UCs of Vehari, Chakwal in Punjab and in Thatta District Sindh.  Developed and undertook Community Mobilization strategy for opening of fast track learning Centers in their Mohalas and vicinity govt. schools and supporting / allowing their adolescent girls going to the fast track learning centers.  Taking Semester Assessments, establishing examination centers and conducting annual examinations with the support of Govt. School Management, arranging paper marking and compiling results.  Generating Monthly, Quarterly, Biannual and Annual Reports and presenting in Project Steering Committee meetings with Project Donors and other stakeholders.  Developing reading materials ; easy to read interesting story books in association with UNESCO for GPP Learners for creating reading interest among them and enhancing their vocabulary .  Close liaison and effective coordination with Provincial and District Administration for smooth implementation of projects in the respective provinces and districts.  Developed long awaited “Feasibility Report on Open Schooling for Pakistan” along with consultant Prof. Tony Dodd - Commonwealth of Learning Canada.

As General Manager Rural Finance Resource Center – National Institute of Banking and Finance – State Bank of Pakistan Islamabad – June 2009 – May 2011 Rural Finance Resource Centre (RFRC) was established in National Institute of Banking and Finance – State Bank Pakistan in 2005 under Rural Finance Sector Development Program (RFSDP) with the allocation of USD 1 million from USD 250 million ADB loan no.1987PAK extended to Govt. of Pakistan for strengthening of key institutions to help them provide affordable financial services for increasing rural incomes, employment, and investments. The core objectives of the establishment of RFRC were;  Capacity building of commercial banks, RFIs / MFIs for providing cost effective, improved financial services to the rural customers destined to increase their incomes.  Assist government in accelerating rural economic growth by addressing key constraints in rural finance.  Improving governance of rural finance / microfinance operations through capacity building trainings and infrastructural support.  Developing demand driven products & services with recognition of gender dimensions. Instituting enhanced portfolio management capability.  Installing systems and procedures for reducing costs. Encourage private sector participation in rural finance at minimal transaction cost.  Promote best practice microfinance / rural finance intermediation. Few Accomplishments AS General Manager RFRC – NIBAF State Bank of Pakistan  Organized training course on “Fundamentals of Microfinance“for microfinance practioners of Microfinance Banks/ Microfinance Institutions and commercial banks.  Organized Orientation Training Program on “Microfinance Regulatory Framework & Microfinance banking” for NRSP which was attended by 27 regional managers and regional programme officers of NRSP from their different regions across Pakistan.  Developed two week duration “Microfinance Certification Course” in collaboration with RFSDP- European Union, SBP with all key Microfinance market players on board.  Organized two days workshop on ”Microfinance product innovations in challenging times” in collaboration with Microfinance Department, State Bank of Pakistan, which was attended by the participants from leading MFBs/MFIs, Commercial Banks and development NGOs from all over the country.  Negotiated and signed MoU with NRSP in November, 2009 for providing capacity building training to their staff for starting Microfinance Bank Operations.  Conducted TNA of NRSP staff and allied communities in NRSP Bahawalpur Region and prepared customized tailor based training program that covered all the important dimensions of commercial banking and microfinance best practices.  Delivered Banking transformation training to 580 staff members at all levels in 31 iterations, 414 sessions, 27.4 training weeks and 137 training days at NRSP HRD Centre Bahawalpur.  Created linkage between NIBAF - AIOU and NRSP for achieving common goals of Human Development that resulted the signing of a MoU between NIBAF & AIOU.  Recoded and edited Video Footage of NRSP – MFB Banking Training process and on the life and economy of Rural Communities in and around Bahawalpur.
  • 6. 6  Recorded and edited a pilot Video Documentary on NIBAF. As Regional General Manager – Khushhali Bank Limited – July 2001-June 2004 A premier microfinance bank which was established by the Government of Pakistan to provide retail microfinance & other social services to the poor borrowers at gross root level directed towards poverty eradication by employing Social Mobilization as core strategy of community development. As pioneering team member I was entrusted with the responsibility of launching social development programme in drought affected arid / semi arid districts of southern Sindh. In my role as Regional General Manager I was responsible for providing coaching, guidance and strategic leadership to the diversified teams of financial as well dedicated social development professionals in complete harmony and team spirit. Later on elevated as Manager Social Sector Development Khushhali Bank Corporate Office Islamabad, I developed social sector development plans including capacity building / skill enhancement trainings especially for rural women, small infrastructure development schemes, educational plans, and health facilities for the poor communities, especially for rural women in the remote areas of the country.
