                       Early Arrivals and Late Departures

If your arrival is early in the day and you prefer immediate access to your room, we
recommend reserving for the prior night to guarantee immediate access. Similarly, for
late departures, reserving an additional night will guarantee access until you leave the
hotel.

At Pearl Continental Hotel Rawalpindi, a guaranteed reservation assures you of a room
even if you check in late (after 1800 hrs). All reservations must be guaranteed by a major
credit card or company letter (for corporate accounts only). Any direct reservation by
guests or travel agents shall not be entitled to these special rates.
Please check for full deposit requirements at time of booking.


Cancellation Policy

Cancellations for a hotel room reservation must be received 24 hours prior to the
expected day of arrival and may differ by arrival date and room type. If cancellation of a
guaranteed reservation is not received by the required date, the hotel will charge for one
night's accommodation.

Management Information System(MIS):
MIS are the most common from of
management support system. They provide managerial end users with information produce
that support mush of their day to day decision making needs . Management information
systems provide a variety of reports and displays to management. The contents of these
information produce are specified in advance by managers so that they contain information
that managers need. Management information system retrieve information about internal
operations from databases that have been updated by transaction processing system. They
also obtain data about the business environment from external sources. Information products
provided to managers include displays and reports that can be furnished


   1. on demand,
   2. periodically,according to a predetermined schedule,or
   3. whenever exceptional conditions occur.

For example, sales managers could.


   1. use a Web browser to receive instantaneous Visual displays at their workstation of
      information about the sales of particular product:
   2. Access weekly sales analysis report evaluating sales results by product,
      salesperson, and sales territory:
   3. receive reports produced automatically whenever a sales person fails to produce
      sales results during a specified period.We will discuss management information
      system.




Decision Support System:
DDS are a natural progression from
information reporting systems and transaction processing systems. Decision support system
are interactive, computer-based information system that use decision models and
specialized databases to assist the decision making processes of managerial end users.
Thus, they are different from transaction processing system,which focus on processing the
data generated by business transactions and operations, though they extract data from
corporate databases maintained by TPS. They also differ from management information
system, which focus on providing managers with prespecified information (reports) that can
be used to help them make more effective, structured types of decisions

Conclusion

This article has particularly been addressed to managers in the hotel industry
(general managers, technical managers) who are anxious to improve their
competitiveness and find better ways of providing better service to their guests at
lower cost.

As director of the establishment, the general manager of the hotel has an
operational budget which involves numerous costs. These particularly include the
supply of water, fuel and electricity in particular, all of which are indispensable to
the activities of the hotel. The energy they represent is vital for the production
and maintenance of comfort, Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, domestic hot
water, lighting etc.

I have suggested tools which will help those responsible to take wise decisions,
based on an analysis of the potential profitability of their technical investments.

The choice of a technical management system which is specially designed for
hotels is the decisive factor which ensures that the manager's objectives will be
met. I hope that I will have encouraged planning offices to incorporate the
specific needs of hotels into their technical specifications.

Hotels are different to other buildings. They have specific needs.

The equipment and procedures suggested are intended to produce hotels which
are safe, healthy and intelligent: buildings with a technical management system
which allows effective operation and optimal returns at the same time.

The main aim of the hotel's technical manager and his team is to co-ordinate all
the technologies in the hotel harmoniously. The main aim of this book has
therefore been to analyse the specific features of the hotel, and thus help the
hotel manager to make the right choice for the best possible operation of his
establishment.

The Room Management System (RMS) with all its integrated functions is a key
factor to guarantee customer satisfaction. The entire Integrated Hotel
Management System (IHMS) is certainly the best way to improve the quality of
life in the hotel.

I sincerely hope that this book will help make every hotel run as efficiently as
possible.
