Tenses are the form taken by a
verb to show time of an action
and state of an event .
There are three forms of tense :
1. PRESENT TENSE
2. PAST TENSE
3. FUTURE TENSE
 Each form of tense has further sub divisions :
1. INDEFINITE
2. CONTINOUS
3. PERFECT
4. PERFECT CONTINOUS
1. Subject+ verb( 1st ) + object .
 She goes to school.
2) Subject + Do/ does+ not + verb( 1st)+
object.
 She does not go to school.
3) Do/does+ Subject + verb ( 1st)+ object ?
 Does she go to school ?
4. w-h family + do/ does+ subject + verb ( 1st
)+ object ?
• Why does she go to school?
5. Subject + is/am/are+ verb+ing+ object.
 He is playing football.
6. Subject+ is/am/are+ not+verb+ing+ object.
 He is not playing football.
7. is/am/are+ subject+ verb+ing+ object?
 Is he playing football?
8. W-H family + is/am/are+ subject + verb+ing
+object ?
 Where is he playing football?
9. Subject + has/ have + verb(3rd)+ object .
 He has completed his work.
10. Subject+ has/have+ not + verb ( 3rd) +
object .
 He has not completed his work.
11. Has/have + Subject + verb (3rd) + object?
 Has he completed his work?

Structute of Tenses

  • 2. Tenses are the form taken by a verb to show time of an action and state of an event . There are three forms of tense : 1. PRESENT TENSE 2. PAST TENSE 3. FUTURE TENSE
  • 3.  Each form of tense has further sub divisions : 1. INDEFINITE 2. CONTINOUS 3. PERFECT 4. PERFECT CONTINOUS
  • 4. 1. Subject+ verb( 1st ) + object .  She goes to school. 2) Subject + Do/ does+ not + verb( 1st)+ object.  She does not go to school. 3) Do/does+ Subject + verb ( 1st)+ object ?  Does she go to school ? 4. w-h family + do/ does+ subject + verb ( 1st )+ object ? • Why does she go to school?
  • 5. 5. Subject + is/am/are+ verb+ing+ object.  He is playing football. 6. Subject+ is/am/are+ not+verb+ing+ object.  He is not playing football. 7. is/am/are+ subject+ verb+ing+ object?  Is he playing football? 8.
