Theodore Roosevelt expanded America's role on the world stage through imperialism and military might during his presidency from 1901-1909. He established the Roosevelt Corollary to expand U.S. influence in Latin America. Roosevelt also grew American naval power by sending the Great White Fleet on a global tour to demonstrate military strength. Additionally, he oversaw the start of construction of the Panama Canal to facilitate trade between the oceans.
