Camera:

When taking photograph’s I use a Canon 450D, the 450D came out in 2008 and won the TIPA
awards for best DSLR advanced camera. On the official Cannon website it states that “The EOS
450D blends uncompromising performance with ease of use in a lightweight, ergonomic body.”
Features:
- 12.2 MP CMOS senso
- 3.5fps
- 9 point wide area AF
- EOS Integrated cleaning system
- 3.0” LCD with Live View mode
- BIGIC 3 processer
- Total image control
- Compatible with EF/EF-S lenses and EX speedlites
- Large/bright view finder
!
The camera does date when it comes to megapixel quality and frames per second. Having this
quality means that I have to make sure everything is in focus perfectly, otherwise the image will
look cheap and that it’s been taken on a phone.

Lens:
!
I will be using a Canon 1.4f 50mm lens. The lens has no zoom on it and only a fixed range, the
aperture is the main quality I will be using it for. The lens that came with the Canon 450D is a
18-55mm lens and only goes down to a 3.5f aperture, unlike the 50mm which aperture allows
me to create a small depth of field. The official Canon website had this to say, “It’s fast
maximum aperture and rapid focusing system, the compact, high performance EF 50mm f/1.4
USM standard lens can be rallied on for superb performance in any field of photography”.
!
Features:
- Fast f/1.4 aperture
- Standard 46 degree angle of view
- USM focus motor with full time manual focus override
- 45cm closest focusing distance
- Aspherical lens element
- 58mm filter size
!
The main use of the lens for this project is for the use of the aperture which then allows me to
create a small depth of field when photographing the subject. The small depth of field highlights
and focuses the subject and brings them out from the background which makes a professional
looking photograph.
