In this presentation, Ajinkya introduces IoT and associated trends. Ajinkya is interested in IoT applications in the domains of disaster, epidemic and Traffic management.

2. Introduction
 The Internet of Things (IoT) is a scenario in which objects, animals or people
are provided with unique identifiers and the ability to transfer data over a
network without requiring human-to-human or human-to-computer interaction.
 With the development of Cloud Computing picking speed it is possible for the
IoT to become a reality and fast.
 With the emergence of technologies like Sixth sense, Google glass, etc. and also
because of IPv6 it is possible to give every atom on the planet a unique
identifiers and still be left with extra to fill another 10 earth like
planets(according to Dr. John Barrett).
 The picture given in the next slide explains what exactly IoT means to me.

4. Trends
 Since the inception of IoT in 2009 it has been developing very fast and has been
influencing our life tremendously.
 The Smart-Grid technology which has been implemented in various places has been
able to help people to reduce their power consumption and has also helped the
power companies to manage the load of supplying it.
 It has also been implemented in traffic control and management abroad and can also
be implemented in various aspects of our lives in the coming years.
 As for me I would like to work on all the latest trends regarding IoT especially with
respect to traffic control and management in our country since as we all know how
much time is being wasted in traffic.
 I would also like to work on projects with respect to monitoring weather and various
aspects of it and early warning systems as of lately we have been having a lot of
climate related issues which is causing us loss of life as well as economy.
 The image in the next slide shows us the various trends over the years till 2020.

6. Interest Areas
 As I have mentioned before my interest areas are with respect to solving the
current problems faced by our country like traffic control, disaster management,
epidemics, etc.
 Traffic is a major problem here and as currently majority of our economy and
transportation is still dependent on roads we can manage it by finding the flow of
the traffic and if there are accidents then provide drivers with alternate routes.
 In case of disaster management we can tag buoy’s to monitor the waves and also
the tectonic shifts if any on the ocean floor.
 These buoy’s can also be helpful in case of plane crashes over water bodies etc.
 In case of epidemics we can tag people with microchips and monitor them to make
sure that they are not infected by some disease like swine flu or in case Ebola we
can tag the passengers coming here on flights after their inspection.
 If in case one of the cleared patient is infected we can monitor his movements via
the microchip and warn whoever he has come in contact with or wherever he has
gone can be quarantined.
 If I’m given a chance to intern at your prestigious Organization then I would
like to work on any one of the above mentioned areas but basically I would
like to increase my experience by working for your company.
