Good Stuff Happens in 1:1 Meetings: Why you need them and how to do them well

1. Before concrete can be poured or a
foundation laid, a survey layout plan is required.
Since 1986 Transit Technical Services’
highly-trained surveyors have been working with
contractors in Lloydminster to provide such plans
for surveying water, sewer and underground
facilities, as well as generating topographic plans
for site drainage design.
From commercial work to municipal
projects, the surveying firm takes care of
interpreting the architectural and engineering
blueprints for any type of new construction. They
provide the required layouts for buildings, site
grading, earth work computations as well as
high-precision levelling of industrial machine
bases & equipment. Each project is initially
assessed for the best plan of action and the
primary concerns of the contractor are thoroughly
addressed before any survey layout is started.
“We offer good quality service that
contractors and developers can rely on,” says
Morris Freeston, owner/operator. “Whether it’s a
parking lot or a building, our goal is to provide the
service that they require and to work with the
contractors in a way that they can use our
information onsite to build whatever they have to
build.”
From working on the Husky Energy
Upgrader to the Lloydminster Continuing Care
Centre, new Synergy Credit Union building and
Lakeland College’s Lloydminster campus’ Energy
Centre, the construction service specialists have
worked on a wide range of local projects over the
years.
Transit Technical Services offers
advanced technology, including a 3D laser scanner,
to collect accurate and detailed information. The
technology has been proven invaluable with
regards to the location of existing infrastructure to
save costs on design and help mitigate unforeseen
expenses during construction.
“We can scan existing pipes,
infrastructure and equipment in buildings, and
from that I can generate a three-dimensional
model out of this information,” says Freeston. “It
has so many applications.”
The locally owned and operated firm will
soon debut another cutting-edge and timesaving
method of surveying with its newly acquired
drone.
“You can fly patterns across an area, take
photos and generate a three-dimensional model of
the ground, of the buildings – whatever you’ve
taken photos of,” says Freeston. “It will provide
access to sites where normally you wouldn’t be
able to get to. You’ll be able to fly it, record the info
and still provide whatever the contractor requires
in the way of modeling. It’s another tool we have
that will achieve what normally would take you
days of survey work.”
As 2016 approaches, so too does Transit
Technical Services’ 30th anniversary. For nearly
three decades the firm has built a reputation for
prompt and reliable service, customer satisfaction
and ultimately completing each project to the
highest standards. Freeston says he looks forward
to continuing to provide quality service to
Lloydminster.
“We thank all those who’ve worked with
us and we’re grateful for this supportive
community of businesses and contractors.”
