I am pleased to recommend Juraj Moraviik for his future employer. Juraj Moraviik has been
a student in many of my classes during the past five years, so I have learned a great deal about him and
his abilities.
Juraj graduated as an excellent student at Comenius University at the Department of Mineralogy
and Petrology in 201-4. During his undergraduate studies he consistently got only excellent marks on his
exams or tests and he participated in all classes and courses regularly. ln the fifth term he spent one
month at the Masaryk University in Brno {Czech Republic} during the CEPUS program. His collaboration
with prof. Hrouda from Masaryk University was related to anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility of mafic
and ultrarnafic rocks. This work was focused to field work at various localities of Central and lnner West
Carpathians and later to evaluation of measurements with respect to geodynamic interpretations. The
results of this study were presented at the PETROS conference organized by the Department of
Mineralogy and Petrology (Faculty of Natural Sciences, Comenius University in Bratislava). For this topic
he also obtained bachelor degree.
He was awarded by rector for his diploma work and his excellent study results. His diploma
work concerned qualitative evaluation of marbles for utilization as a filter for papermaking. ln his
diploma work he compared commercially used filter Hydrocarb 50 VA frorn the Horni Lipov6 - Na
Pomezi (Czech Republic) deposit with marbles obtained after technological adjustment from the
Bohrifiovo locality in Slovak Republic. Supervisor of his diploma work was Dr. Peter RuZidka from the
Department of Mineralogy and Petrology at Comenius University in Bratislava.
Now he is a PhD student supervised by prof. Puti5 at the same department. ln the beginning of
2015 year he spent two months at the Vienna University, where he got acquainted with EBSD, SEM and
XRF methods under supervision of prof. Abart. Object of his PhD thesis are ultramafic rocks from Eastern
Alps, their detailed mineralogy, petrology and modeling of P-T conditions using PERPLE-X and
Thermocalc thermodynamic programs. He still collaborates with prof. Abart and together with his
superuisor is preparing paper for an SCI internationaljournal. Some partial results related to
thermodynamic modeling have already been published in a journal registered in SCOPUS database. He is
strongly interested also in application of geological software, like Maplnfo Professional, Discover 3D and
Leapfrog- used for the visualization of exploration drillholes, 3D modeling of geological profiles or
deposits.
This letter is a personal recommendation of Juraj Morav6ik. During the years l've know hirn, he
has worked to greatly improve his swn knowledge in his abilities. Juraj is highly intelligent and I would
rank him as one of the best students we have ever had. He has good analytical and communication skills
and I have no doubts that his abilities will continue to grow. Juraj deepen his knowledge of foreign
languages and cultures during his numerous trips abroad {Australia, Japan, Norway, ltaly, France, Turkey
and Finland) representing Slovak folklore as a member of the Slovak National Folklore Ballet - Lridnica.
He speaks fluently English and German.
