Sabrina Jabin presented on internet addiction among young people. Internet addiction, also called problematic internet use, refers to excessive computer use that interferes with daily life. Common types of internet addiction among youth include web surfing, pornography, social networking, gaming, and online gambling. Symptoms include headaches, sleep issues, inability to stop the activity, and neglecting friends and family. Consequences can be physical like eyestrain, as well as problems at school or work. Based on a survey, many youth spend over 4 hours online daily and feel it is a waste of time rather than helping them learn. Controlling time spent online and increasing outdoor activities were suggested to address this issue.
