Infosys was co-founded in 1981 by seven individuals with a capital of Rs. 10,000. It was incorporated as Infosys Consultants Pvt Ltd and was later renamed to Infosys Technologies Ltd. 3. NARAYANA MURTHY
Mr. Narayana Murthy was born on August
20, 1946.
He is an Indian IT industrialist and co-
founder of Infosys.
Murthy studied electrical engineering at
the National institute of Engineering,
University of Mysore and M.Tech at IIT,
Kanpur.
Before starting Infosys, Murthy worked
with IIM, Ahmedabad as Chief Systems
Programmer and Patni Computer Systems
in Pune.
He started Infosys in 1981 and served as its
CEO from 1981 to 2002 and as Chairman
from 2002 to 2011.
Murthy has been honoured with the
Padma Vibhushan and Padma Shri awards.
4. Change in Name
In 1983 the company’s corporate
headquarters was relocated from Pune to
Bangalore.
The company changed its name to “Infosys
technologies Private Limited” in April 1992
and to “Infosys Technologies Limited”.
Became Public limited Company in June
1992 and later renamed to “Infosys limited”
in June 2011.
Its shares were listed in stock exchange in
June 1993.
5. VISHAL SIKKA
He was born in Shajapur, Madhya
Pradesh.
Vishal Sikka is the CEO and MD of
Infosys.
Before joining Infosys, Dr. Vishal Sikka
was a member of the executive board of
SAP AG and the Global Managing Board.
Vishal Sikka joined the Bachelor’s in
Computer Engineering course at Maharaja
Satyajirao University at Baroda.
On June 12, 2014, Infosys named Dr. Sikka
as its CEO and Managing Director.
He receives $5.08 million (₹30 Cr) and
stock options worth $2 million as annual
compensation.

In 2002 Nandan M. Nilekani takes over as CEO from
N.R Narayana Murthy.
In 2003 Infosys establishes Subsidiaries in China an

In 2006 annual revenues double to $ 2 billion. It
took 23 years to reach first billion.
8. In 2006 N.R. Narayana Murthy retires from the
servies of the company on turning 60. The Board
of Directors appoints him as Additional Director.
He continues as Chairman and Chief Mentor of
Infosys.
In 2007 Kris Gopalakrishnan COO, takes over as
CEO. Nandan M. Nilekani was Appointed as Co-
Chairman of the Board of Directors.
In 2008 Infosys crosses revenues of US$ 4 billion
and annual net profits cross US$ 1 billion.
In 2011 N.R. Narayana Murthy hands over the
Chairmanship to K.V. Kamath.
