1. Message from the Global Chairman,
Dr. (Prof) Rama Subramaniam
The 3rd year anniversary celebration of
this Institute is a milestone in the quest for
excellence amongst forensic professionals,
across the globe. The fact that white collar
and technology crimes are overtaking more
traditional crimes in terms of damage done, is
well recognized.
This also warrants new approaches, frameworks, training and
competencies to fight against white collar and technology
crimes. There is a growing demand for forensic professionals
who are skilled not only in established forensic practices
but are also competent to handle the emerging nuances in
contemporary crime patterns. As Global chairman of IICFIP,
I appeal to all forensics professionals globally to make this
profession relevant in the context of rapid changes in crime
patterns, by joining us in our 3rd anniversary celebrations and
participate in our annual Global Conference-2015 in Dar-es-
Salaam, Tanzania.
Your active participation will strengthen the spirit of forensic
professionalism and support IICFIP in its battle against new
forms of crimes that is hindering progress of individuals,
businesses and community at large.
2. Message from Africa Director:

INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTE OF CERTIFIED FORENSIC
INVESTIGATION PROFESSIONALS USA, INC. (IICFIP)
Academic Affiliations
The IICFIP has a policy to proactively engage colleges and
universities in educational partnerships so that they can run
forensic investigation programmes which are designed or
approved by it in pursuit of its mission to promote excellence
in forensic investigation. The partner universities are given
support in terms of forensically trained lecturers, training
materials etc. The students graduating from such programme
(s) joins the IICFIP and then receive CFIP professional
designation straightaway in addition to college degrees. The
partner university (ies) that already have forensic science or
cyber security and digital forensics programmes are assisted
in improving and enriching them in line with the IICFIP’s
professional standards so that the graduates are admitted as
professional members immediately they graduate. The Institute
mostly recognize relevant or approved masters degrees as
equivalent to the CFIP.
The following are the universities that have already entered into
collaborative arrangements with the IICFIP:
1. The University of Lagos – Nigeria
They are offering Diploma in Forensic Accounting and Criminal
Investigation. They already have 45 students.
The course is being conducted by Lecturers and professors who
are members and fellows of the Institute.
2. Agenla Academy/ University of Yaoundé
II – Cameroon
They are offering a master’s of science course in Forensic
Accounting and Criminal investigation. The curriculum was
designed by the IICFIP’s Faculty members who are also lecturers
and professors at the University of Lagos. This program has 98
students from Cameroon, Nigeria, Lesotho, South Sudan and
Kenya.
Any university that partners with us can run this programme
with the IICFIP’s Faculty support.
Negotiations are in the process to partner with universities
in Kenya, USA, Botswana, Ghana and Switzerland just but to
mention a few. The reason for academic affiliations is to produce
professionals that are also academically proficient.
IICFIP Faculty
The Institute has put together an elite faculty consisting of
Forensic Accounting experts, Professors of Cyber Criminology
and digital forensics, forensic investigation practitioners.
The average experience of the faculty is 8 years in teaching /
forensic training/ forensic investigation. All faculty members
are Certified Forensic Investigation Professionals CFIPs plus
academic degrees. The average academic qualification of the
faculty is a master’s degree.
The institute is encouraging them to increase that average to
Doctorate level degrees.
Accreditation Training
The IICFIP has over 18 approved tuition centres spread out in
Africa, Europe and Asia. In Kenya there are three tuition centres
and the Institute is still recruiting more.
Certified members of the Institute are encouraged to start
Tuition Centers in Towns where they work.
The Tuition Centers offer contact Tuition to the students who
have time to attend classes and other busy professionals are
trained by distance learning.
CFIP Admission requirements
The IICFIP does not admit high school graduates directly to any
of its professional accreditation programmes. Those aspiring
to become CFIP (Certified Forensic Investigation Professional)
or DFIP (Digital Forensics Investigation Professional) or CACC
(Certified Anti-Corruption Consultant) must be having relevant
advanced diplomas or degrees plus three (3) years relevant work
experience. The only exception to this requirement is a CPA or
CA or ACCA who has demonstrable forensic audit or practical
investigative experience.
The graduates of the Technician course shall of course be
admitted to CFIP course automatically.
Those wishing to become certified must undergo training on
the following (8) subjects:
· Criminology & Psychology
· Principles and Practice of Accounting
· Computer and digital Forensics
· Fraud Auditing and Forensic Accounting
· Criminal Investigations
· Studies on Fraud and Corruption
· Investigation Law
· Investigative accounting
Where CFIPs work
The CFIPs work in the following organizations or departments of
governments:
1. Government regulatory agencies like Anti- Corruption and
Revenue collection Agencies
2. Police
3. Auditing/Accounting firms
4. Security Firms
5. Cooperative Societies
6. Consulting firms
7. Banks
8. Insurance
9. Universities as Lecturers
10. Audit offices of government
11. NGOs
12. Embassies
13. Civil Aviation Authorities of Government and many more.
Skills set of a CFIP
1. Private Investigations
2. Criminal Investigations
3. Fraud Audit
4. Forensic Accounting
5. Forensic Audit/Investigation
6. Tracing of hidden Assets
7. Money Laundering Investigation
8. Expert Witnessing
9. Preventive Controls design and implementation
10. Anti- fraud/corruption training.
Global Board
There is also a Global Board. The Global Chair of the IICFIP is Prof.
Rama Subramaniam from UAE and the Continental Director for
Africa is FCFIP Linus Enobi Akepe of Cameroon.
Success or Failure of Investigations
Investigations succeed or fail depending on the quality of the
investigative team. The fallacy is that lawyers or accountants
are best suited for investigation assignments. An effective
forensic investigator or auditor must have adequate mix of skills
as portrayed by the course requirements of a CFIP. One must
understand law as applies to investigations, accounting, digital
forensics, criminal investigation procedures, auditing, have
good understanding of fraud and corruption typologies and
causation theories, understand criminology and psychology
and investigative accounting added to natural talents. Lack of all
round trained investigators is the cause of cases being thrown
out of courts for inadequacy of evidence and other technical
reasons.
Our members in various parts of the globe are well equipped
to carry out effective forensic investigations in business
organizations, governments and other situations requiring
forensic investigation skills.
The Institute caters for the networking of all investigation
professionals.
The Business of the IICFIP
IICFIP is not just in the business of fraud examination but
forensic investigation in the widest sense.
We train professionals to become all rounded experts in
forensic investigation such that they are able to carry out fraud
examination, forensic accounting, medical investigations,
financial investigations, digital forensics, criminal investigations
and do fraud/corruption control.
Annual Convocations
We do annual convocations for new CFIPs
IICFIP FORENSIC CONFERENCES

Success or Failure of Investigations Investigations succeed or fail depending on the quality of the investigative team. The fallacy is that lawyers or accountants are best suited for investigation assignments. An effective forensic investigator or auditor must have adequate mix of skills as portrayed by the course requirements of a CFIP. One must understand law as applies to investigations, accounting, digital forensics, criminal investigation procedures, auditing, have good understanding of fraud and corruption typologies and causation theories, understand criminology and psychology and investigative accounting added to natural talents. Lack of all round trained investigators is the cause of cases being thrown out of courts for inadequacy of evidence and other technical reasons. Our members in various parts of the globe are well equipped to carry out effective forensic investigations in business organizations, governments and other situations requiring forensic investigation skills. The Institute caters for the networking of all investigation professionals. The Business of the IICFIP IICFIP is not just in the business of fraud examination but forensic investigation in the widest sense. We train professionals to become all rounded experts in forensic investigation such that they are able to carry out fraud examination, forensic accounting, medical investigations, financial investigations, digital forensics, criminal investigations and do fraud/corruption control.
