Maintaining this alignment can be challenging as the vendors release new updates and limit support of previous versions. The objective of this presentation is to provide you with information that can assist you with the planning of your own strategy and road map for Oracle EPM in your organisation to help address this challenge. This also allows the opportunity to take advantage of the latest and greatest improvements in performance and functionality in the latest version that have been well documented by Oracle. The transition from old to new can be a challenge. Therefore, we have provided a high level description of some of the options available to support the process. The slides firstly look at the current status of the most commonly used versions previous to 11.1.2.4 and highlights the typical compatibility issues experienced with them. We then look at some high level options to help tackle these by providing feasible and supported upgrade solutions. The options vary considerably and include short and long term solutions. Therefore, we explore the pros and cons of these to allow you to take the necessary considerations into account when building your own road map and strategy for future upgrades.

We recommend maintenance patch upgrade to 11.1.2.3.700 Version 11.1.2.1 Hyperion 11.1.2.1 is not compatible with Internet Explorer 10 or 11. In order to address this issue, you will need to upgrade to at least 11.1.2.3.700 Version 11.1.1.x Hyperion 11.1.1.3 is not compatible with IE 9 or later. Most components are only available in 32 bit mode only Version 9.x Premier support and Sustaining support is no longer available from Oracle Upgrade ASAP!

UPGRADE REQUIRED ONLY SUPPORTS IE 11 UPGRADE HYPERION 11.1.2.3.700 OR 11.1.2.4 UPGRADE HYPERION 11.1.2.3.700 OR 11.1.2.4 OFFICE 2013 IS ONLY SUPPORTED FROM 11.1.2.3.500 UPWARDS MS OFFICE 2010 OR OLDER MS WINDOWS 2008 SERVERS MS SQL 2008 SERVERS MS WINDOWS 7 OR 8 CLIENT PCS INTERNET EXPLORER 10 OR OLDER MAINSTREAM SUPPORT EXPIRED JAN 2015 MAINSTREAM SUPPORT EXPIRED JULY 2014 MAINSTREAM SUPPORT EXPIRES JAN 2015 MS SUPPORT FOR INTERNET EXPLORER EXPIRES JAN 2016 LIMITED SUPPORT AFTER OCT 2015 UPGRADE TO OFFICE 2013 UPGRADE TO INTERNET EXPLORER 11 UPGRADE TO WINDOWS 8??? UPGRADE TO MS SQL DATABASE 2012 UPGRADE TO MS WINDOWS SERVER 2012 Internet Explorer is now an immediate concern! • Microsoft are limiting the support for some of their most commonly used products (inc. Internet Explorer, Office, Windows Server). • Upgrading to remain supported by Microsoft will create knock on compatibility issues with Oracle Hyperion software
  6. Copyright © 2015 Accenture. All rights reserved. 6 Internet Explorer Version Dilemma Support for older versions of Internet Explorer is coming to an end very soon! • Microsoft is ending support for Internet Explorer releases previous to version 11 in January 2016 • Upgrading to Internet Explorer 11 will mean compatibility issues with Oracle Hyperion 11.1.2.3.0 and older • The following describes some things to consider in relation to Oracle Hyperion EPM compatibility •If you’re using IE 6, 7, 8, 9 or 10 with Hyperion, it is likely that action is required to upgrade to IE 11 •Check the following page on Microsoft’s website for confirmation of your support status: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/gp/microsoft-internet-explorer Check the support status of your IE version •The remainder of this slide assumes that the version compatibility issues of IE applies to you •If so, you need to consider the impact to Hyperion before upgrading to IE 11 so that your organisation can be made aware Does this issue apply to you? •IE 11 is not compatible with any version of Hyperion older than 11.1.2.3.0 •IE 11 is only fully compatible with Hyperion 11.2.3.700 and 11.1.2.4.x Internet Explorer 11 Compatibility •Contact us to help you define a plan with the most feasible options given your specific circumstances •Consider the long and short term options based on pros and cons Suggested Action
  7. Copyright © 2015 Accenture. All rights reserved. 7 Upgrade Strategy Pros & Cons How should you upgrade? PROS CONS IN-PLACE UPGRADE • This is the quickest easiest method to upgrade to the newest version • Minimal new hardware is required • The applications and data do not need to be migrated • More advisable for smaller upgrade leaps e.g. 11.1.2.2 to 11.1.2.3 • This is the highest risk option available due Possible corruption of install files during upgrade • No smooth roll back plan for contingency should the upgrade fail • Limited time for extending system testing or BAU testing • No opportunity for a parallel run PARALLEL BUILD • Allows the old system to remain un-impacted by the upgrade throughout the duration of the project • Allows the opportunity to address any potential design issues in the new system • Reduces risk by allowing maximum amount of time required for all testing activities • Provides a fully robust roll back solution for go- live contingency • More time and effort is required to design and build a new system in parallel • More hardware will be required to host the new servers • The data and applications in the old system will need to be migrated and upgraded to the new version • If you now have some considerations from the previous slides that may require you to consider an upgrade, you should consider the options available for doing so and the associated pros and cons. • These are two common methods used by Hyperion clients. In some cases it may also be possible to adopt a hybrid of the two in order to get the best of both worlds.

Taking into consideration the hosting options that will be available in the next few years, we envisage three options to be considered as part of your upgrade strategy for long or short term planning. The most valid option for you is likely to be dependant on your own time and budget constraints as well as sensitivity to risk: MINIMAL AVAILABILITY OF TIME & BUDGET IN-PLACE UPGRADE MAXIMUM RISK MINIMUM TESTING RISK AVERSE BUT TIME & BUDGET IS AVAILABLE PARALLEL BUILD (CLOUD OR ON PREMISE) LOWEST RISK & MAXIMUM TESTING OK FOR NOW LONGER TERM PLAN REQ. MIGRATE TO ORACLE CLOUD SERVICES WHEN THE REQURED FUNCTIONALITY IS AVAILABLE THE FULL EPM SUITE IS NOT YET FULLY ESTABLISHED (TBD)
