16. One of our success stories:
EICHO - EchOpen
Origins:
• Born in 2014 as a community
project, with people from all over
the world, interested in m-health
and e-health devices for the
future of medicine
• Goal: Wider use of ultrasound will
improve diagnosis and medical
treatment.
Innovation
• EchOpen is the very first low-cost and open source
ultrasound probe connecting to any smartphone device
• Aim is:
• to universalise access to diagnosis imaging
• Improving orientation in hospitals
• radical transformation of care by allowing universal
access to diagnosis in community medicine and
medically underserved areas (southern and northern
countries)
17. One of our success stories:
Electronic Health Records (EHR) to
Electronic Data Capture systems
Goals:
• Make possible to collect, in a
transparent manner, anonymised
hospital EHRs data and make
it accessible to clinical trial
investigators.
• Revolution in collecting and using
health data in clinical research
• Process fully compliant to good clinical
practice and GDPR regulations
Key successes:
• Reduces workload, complexity, human errors, time of data
collection and manual data entry
• allows automatic capture of about 15% of the data of
clinical protocols, previously re-entered manually.
• Example:
• 1 minute of data entry,
• for 100 Phase II, III, or IV clinical trials
• Time reduction for entering and validating data
= saving in almost €10 million.
